Hello all,
I've done a search and I have found Lime Green Metallic thread by Gudebrod, but can't seem to find color charts or codes for the other limes I have found (or close to lime).
The photo gallery, if you search 'lime', has a few rods with colors close to lime but no advice given on the color codes.
I am looking for something that looks kawasaki green, very loud - any advice?

64. Madeira thread
The sewing center in my town just started stocking Madeira thread. They have every color available. What a sight to see over one hundred colors before your eyes. My question is what is the recommended type of thread for guide wraps, rayon or polyester? Or can either one be used because all colors are not available in both types.
Thanks in advance,
Larry

65. THREAD CHOICES
I AM A NEW ROD BUILDER,
ON THREADS FOR GUIDE WRAPES DO YOU NEED NYLON?
WHAT IS WRONG WITH ALL THE OTHER THRADS YOU WOULD SEE IN A SEWING STORE?
MY LOCAL SEWING STORE HAS VERY FEW CHOICES WHEN IT COMES TO NYLON THREADS
AND MY LOCAL ROD SUPPLY STORE IS OVER AN HOUR AWAY .. IF YOU ORDER FROM A CATALOG YOU DONT KNOW WHAT THE ACTUAL COLOR WILL LOOK LIKE , THE PICTURES IN THE CATALOG CAN BE OFF.

Hello Everybody,
I keep wrapping my guides and having "Spikeys" pertruding out of my finish once I apply my finish. It happens with all of the finishes, too. I look closely before I apply the finish and I noticed it's microscopic slivers of thread. I try to remove them but they still show up. I wrap mostly freshwater rods so I'm trying to stay away from applying more than one coat of

68. Guide Wraps
Hello.
First Rod Build
Bought Tom's great book.
Some Questions; When using concept guide rings, what is the proper way to line them up straight with the real seat?
if I have Nylon that needs to be preserved on the main guides and trim that is NCP should I preserve the main wrap before adding the trim or will it not make a difference if the NCP thread gets some preserver on it?
Also, the g

Hi:
I just started using Diamondite and I love it for putting down my gold leaf butt wraps.
I do a thin coat and apply my leaf after about an hour. I then overcoat with the Diamondite after it dries.
I noticed after I used it a couple of times (I have the bottles without the built in syringes so I used a new set of flex-coat syringes to start) the A part
is VERY thick and has a bit of crys

72. thread....ncp
What makes NCP what it is? That is, why does it resist drastic darkening? What material is it? I've found rayon, nylon, polyester, etc. I went to the local fabric store and found a plethora of colors, sizes, materials, and a million other variables.

Non-stretch, color fastness, & strength are mostly what I look for in the threads
I use. We want threads to pack well, cut clean, & stay bright.
That being said, when talking about regular thread I don't think
I have used any thread that didn't suit my needs or cause me problems
except for the cotton and rayon types which were full of the dredded "fuzzies"
and or were we

Well I now have a bunch of tiny Fuzzies after the first coat and wonder how most of you deal with this? Oo you lightly sand them off or simply cut them with a sharp razor.

Is rayon and polyester thread the same thread or are they different? I'm looking at quilting thread advertised as outdoor thread.

Hey folks.
Despite the downsides to using Rayon, can it work as a rod wrapping thread? The colour range is awesome, coming exactly to a couple of matches I need to make that just aren't happening with Gudebrod nylon and silk. The Gudebrod just isn't close, and supply for new spools of a different shade is iffy. My silk threads don't seem to like tropical sunlight and saltwater very much, despi

77. Color Preserve
I ran into a problem with color preserver. when I applied it to my guides it immediatley loosend up the threads and dried sort of blotchy and the threads became a bit transparent and dull in spots. My thread was a nylon rod winding thread. I have no idea if it was NCP, and I don`t know how to tell the difference. It was applied while turning on the rod dryer and the air temp was about 65 degre

Ive got a shade/material card for flock. On the card is .5mm, .75mm, 1mm and 2mm in rayon and nylon. Each size of flock has a dtex rating beside it? A 0.7mm1.7 dtex seems to be softer than a 0.5 3.3 dtex What size flock is optimum for a grip?
Any help would be appreciated.

I am attempting to weave a pattern with my new wonder weaver and I am using sulky thread because of the much more diverse color availability. I am having a very difficult time with the thread adhering to the masking tape on my layout threads. Is it me, the tape or thread? I am frustrated to no end, I place the thread in it's place and it just falls off. I tried using different tape and it hasn't

Now I'm back home, was trying to finish up a rod for my bro-in-law in CA. Everything was fine, wrapped the butt wrap with medium tension, simple chevron (gold Sulky, Purple gudebrode, green Madera). Everything was fine until I put Swifty CP on. The gold sulky instantly loosened up, leaving it loose in between every chevron. Attempts to pull the threads together were unsuccessful.

Two of the three articles I have written on thread techniques have already appeared in Rodmaker. The third is in jeopardy because the thread I use is no longer made and Tom doesn't want to run an article on a technique for which the "parts" to do it with no longer exist.
This is no offense to Tom and I understand his position. So I want to find out if any of the other thread makers o

If I were to use any old type of thread on a test rod, what material would be best to use and still get a nice result after using CP?
Nylon, Polyester, cotton, silk, etc?
I've played with a few types of non rod building specific threads and they don't seem to turn out that good after coating with CP.

87. sulky thread
Does anyone know if the sulky rayon thread is good for wraps? I found it at my location Hobby Lobby at a pretty good price. They have the 30 and 40 wt. and just about every single color. Wasn't sure how these weights compared to size A, etc. Thanks!

88. Thread types
Been looking at all the new pics, I've been away from robuilding for awhile and everything seems new. Anyway, I'm seeing all these pics (on this board)with, I think, Rayon thread that I had started to experiment with but that was when I quit for a few years back. There are multiple shades of each color. Do these threads come in NCP also? and , again, where's the best place to buy from? Thanks ahe

I have some old rods that are factory rods, that I like the actions on but don't like the handles, or the guides, etc. How hard is it to rebuild a rod (strip it down and redo it) compared to building one up from scratch? Would seem a good way for a newbie to experiment cheaply and with minimal risk, unless there is some really difficult step. In some cases you'd already have a blank and guides
