Which thread material

If I were to use any old type of thread on a test rod, what material would be best to use and still get a nice result after using CP?
Nylon, Polyester, cotton, silk, etc?
I've played with a few types of non rod building specific threads and they don't seem to turn out that good after coating with CP.

That's really hard to say, because most sewing type threads are coating with something to provide a lubricant for the devices they're used in.

I would think nylon, but even then there are a lot of various styles of nylon thread on the market. I think the best thing to do is just buy a few spools of nylon rod wrapping thread.

It is probably not the thread but the CP. Which brand are you using?

If you use sewing thread stick with Polyester! Rayon, Cotton, etc seem to cause myriad of problems. Due to the use of a lubricant on most sewing threads for machine use, CP is pretty much a must
