If I were to use any old type of thread on a test rod, what material would be best to use and still get a nice result after using CP?
Nylon, Polyester, cotton, silk, etc? I've played with a few types of non rod building specific threads and they don't seem to turn out that good after coating with CP. Re: Which thread material

That's really hard to say, because most sewing type threads are coating with something to provide a lubricant for the devices they're used in.
I would think nylon, but even then there are a lot of various styles of nylon thread on the market. I think the best thing to do is just buy a few spools of nylon rod wrapping thread. ............. Re: Which thread material

It is probably not the thread but the CP. Which brand are you using? Re: Which thread material

If you use sewing thread stick with Polyester! Rayon, Cotton, etc seem to cause myriad of problems. Due to the use of a lubricant on most sewing threads for machine use, CP is pretty much a must Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!!
