George,
It would work fine, in truth there is very little load on the tip top. Another way to go is the new smaller Batson guides that Custom Tackle is bringing in. AM tack has ceramic flys and tip tops down to a 5 now.

Chris,
Have you looked on the Classic Custom Wood site in the build your own section?

No need for a fighting butt on the rod.

Angler's Workshop, Bingham's, FishSticks4U and others here carry Lamar Fishing products.

No reason they wouldn't work fine. There is no difference in the load put on the guides.

I get all my cork, and most other things, from Angler's as they are only 30 miles away. I thought everyones burl looked the same. Learn something everyday. Looking at it again, it sure could be the blue stuff, that's why I don't use it much, it's not really a color like the others from Angler's.

Natural burl cork. Can be gotten at many sources here. Also comes red and green. The blue is poor colorwise so I don't use it.

All my personal rods are always Angler's Workshop Garnet and silver if they are grey or black.

Keep just clicking on "OK" and it will soon submit. LOL. I think I still have it at the house, if you have no luck I'll send it to you.

You didn't give much info. Uplocking or downlocking? I'd get with a REC and Struble with a good discription of what you want. Unstabilized woods would be lighter, but more prone to water damage. Good luck with the rod. Keep thread and finish to a minimum.

Bingham's Shikari site still works if you mess with it enough.

Ted,
I'd give Lamiglas a call and see what they have, they make something for just about everything. Maybe something like the I670 Sardina blank may be appropriate. They do a beautiful job on their custom colors.

Just about anything goes with grey, but I like garnet and dark blues the best.

You mean something like the IST 1562 F Rainshadow blank in the salmon/steelhead section?

Cabela's for a while had a few fly blanks. I think they are toast unless you can find some fine glass tips to try to repair his tips if they can be.

Ross where did it break? It may be repairable. You could also possibly get a piece from Lamiglas to repair it. They are pretty reasonable. Rootbeer brown 10 years ago it could be a Certified Pro. A little earlier they had a lighter Chestnut brown IM700 blank. Angler's Workshop also had a dark Rootbeer brown line of fly blanks that were built for them by Talon. Angler's should be able to tell the

They are uncomfortable when it's chilly out also. Built my Dad an old school glass salmon rod on the Seeker 8 ft 9 in blank many years ago, he loves the rod, but still mentioned the stuff he could live without from the good old days like the cold Lakeland trigger seat.

Duane,
The Rainshadow textured seats aren't quite as nice as the Fuji. I'd say they split the difference between the feel of the standard seat and the soft touch. They are blank thru and they are priced right.

The Pac Bay 17 mm is the smallest reelseat, the others are 20 mm or bigger. I don't think a little weight right under your hand would be much concern. You get a bigger difference in weight when going from say a Shimano reel to an Okuma of the same spool size.

5724. Re: Float N Fly Blank
The blank doesn't know what it's used for, just set it up as per the Library article for spinning rod and have fun with that rod. Since your dunkin' floats I wouldn't get to fancy with the spinning guides as sensitivity isn't an issue.

5725. Re: Float N Fly Blank
Have only done this type fishing once, but a 5 of 6 wt fly rod blank would be my first thought. Wouldn't go any shorter than 8 ft to start I think.

5726. Re: XST 1141 help
Phil,
The 1141 blanks made by anyone were around long before the float technique, and have always been used as a light line summer steelhead drift blank in the spinning configuration. In low, clear water conditions they are superb. Now they are used all season for side drifting from drift boats or sleds for steelhead and silver salmon, and are about where most consider as the minimum length for

Have you tried look ing at the FishSticks4U site where they have the Americanized ratings that were done by Lamar Fishing, the distributor, and CTS? This could help you alot. If you don't see what you want there I bet they can come up with it.

G Loomis quit giving out the GLX blank weights from what I've seen after they added more graphite to beef them up a little about the same time they started putting fiberglass scrim in the IMX blanks. I was told that they were now just a bit lighter than the old graphite scrim IMXs were. I bought a GLX HS9000-3 travel blank about then for myself and commented to the salesman that they appeared to
