Anyone used any thread colour combinations on a grey fly rod blank that looks real sweet?

Thanks,
Gavin

Just about anything goes with grey, but I like garnet and dark blues the best.

I am just finishing a rod on a grey Lamiglas XMG 50 blank. I used dark red Madeira with metallic silver trim bands, it looks very nice.

Try dark forest green with a thin trim band of bright red. If you're using polished SS or bright chrome guide frames, how 'bout dark green wraps with a thin trim band of metallic silver. .

i love black and white jasper-style thread with color preserver, plus tipped with white. i've used pac bay's stay true white thread for the trim and gudebrod's classic twist black and white for the main thread.

Black with gold and sliver trim bands. If you make the outer trim in gold then some black then a thicker band of silver the effect is amazing.. it looks like it is moving.

I am kinda hung up on Black with Silver Metallic trim on a gray blank.
I like the sound of Chris's Idea. I think I'll try it.

Do what I did. I had a couple graphite arrows that had stress cracks near the nock. I wrapped two 1/2" sections of many colors on each shaft and put CP on one section for each color. Put your finish on and use it for reference. It's nice to have to show customers as well. You can find cheap shafts at Wally world, etc. or free cracked ones at almost any archery shop.

Thanks Guys,

I had thought of black and silver, but not black, silver and gold...I might give that a try on an arrow shaft and see how it comes out. Its either that or the garnet with silver. I'll do both on an arrow and try post a picture for reference!!!

Garnet with black trim is a classic. However, I'm using garnet with gold (non-metallic) trim on the black blank I'm currently doing. It looks like a coral snake. I've seen black and green jasper that looks pretty cool, too.

All my personal rods are always Angler's Workshop Garnet and silver if they are grey or black.
