Bill, I plan on casting one of these rods at ICAST next week. That is if I can work my way to the booth and get my hands on it. Wish you were coming.

I think you will like the tip on the Castaway BB1 better than the 904. Especially if your pitching or skipping.

Lou - Fishsicks had a good number of the ATC blanks at ICRBE this year. I have built on alot of those and the ATC V was the lightest series they had. I built that blank as a dropshot rod.

Skipping a jig 15 feet under a dock that's 4 inches above the water is a skill few can do. I built a rod to demo at a NC regional tournament this year to show people that has not yet seen a micro guided rod. It's definitely a wow factor to pitch a jig accurately with 20 pound test line with 3mm guides. As much as the members of the board has been exposed to micro guides the general fishing public

Great advise Bill, I have to ask what specific swimbait, what is the weight and are there hooks exposed. You will be able to point him in the right direction once he provides the info needed. Like crankbaits, not all swimbaits are created equal.

Les, thanks for the kind words. Not alot of bling on my bass rods, those tournament guys just wont buy it. Weight ( the ugly 6 letter word) is the biggest reason. After all there tools. And who needs a ''pretty tool"'.lol

Charles, I think you are talking about Chris Talley. He fished that tournament and has a Ranger 522. If so he is on my Pro Staff, and I have built most of his arsenal on Batson blanks. He is a good fisherman and C-rigging is is favorite technique. The blank he was using that tournament was a Batson IMB944 RX7 its 7'10" and using a RevoSX he throws it to the knot.
Shoot me an email Charles

Ck out Mike Pedersons post a few down, he fishes these rods like that on a regular basis. He and others will confirm the durability of these blanks as far as fishing with them goes. Abuse and improper care will certainly compromise the durability of any blank, and that is ultimately the fate of most failed blanks.

Frazier has some awesome products that have been proven on the trail. The braid aid I believe is in the process of being renamed, because it's definitely not just for braided line. Braid Aid now, Line aid soon. Surprise you on the extra distance. Make the micros look even better!

Do you think the OEM production rods that will be using the micro guides will all have the same micro guides for all there technique specific rods?

Rick, I will have to talk with you about Fed Ex, I've been using UPS. No damage problems, but I guess more expensive. PVC drain tube has worked well for me.

Tom, the one I returned was a rear roller. The difference was the bearing O.D. my bearing wouldn't fit the roller. I gave the ID and OD of the roller I have and I asked to purchase the bearing and roller together and was told someone would call me and help me out, but still nothing.

There are 3 nylon rollers on the thread carriage I have broken the one on the rear. I know it is different than the ones on the front. Renzetti has provided me one but it wasn't the right one, I have sent it back and 3 weeks later I haven't heard if I can get the right one yet. I will post a pic tomorrow. Thanks.

I desperately need a rear roller for my Renzetti lathe. If anyone has an extra they could part with I would gladly purchase it . Its driving me crazy trying to wrap with broken one.

Jeff,
The wraps do have Chromaseal and Threadmaster High Build. I did some wraps without color preserver and the colors I did did not turn transparent but did darken some. I will have to see what colors they are. I didnt have time to do them before ICRBE.

IMHO, I have found with testing the finishes on the market, Threadmaster has penetrated very well and helped with guide pull outs. Especially with micro guides. But I still do a Forhan locking wrap because I really dont want to chance pulling any out on customers rods. Now they just break them off when putting them into the rod lockers with the built in rod tubes. Although I dont think it is alwa

Wow MaryLou! I guess that makes sense, you have no doubt spoiled him with your custom builds, and he probably never experienced fishing with a inferior rod. Pretty typical with allot of anglers that have never fished with a quality custom rod, they cant appreciate the difference until they finally do. Ive had many anglers that have only fished factory rods to say they would have never guessed th

120. Re: Castaway Blanks
You will well pleased if you build on these. I have built on many and they indeed are a good blank and they are priced very well. There very straight and light with a very consistant finish. I had one of my Pro Staffers come to the expo and he put his hands on every blank manufacturer there, he bought a few blanks for me to build on, Castaway's. Give Lance a call he will direct you on application
