Hello All,

I am looking to build a rod to fish a swimbait called the Huddleston.

Does anybody have ANY suggestions or recommendations on some good blanks to fish the Huddleston?

Thanks,
Tony

Most of the Huddleston baits listed on their new web site are "swimming minnow with exposed hook" in the six inch and eight inch size. Those things sure look real! Tony do you know the weights of the baits listed on the site - it does not appear. There is a huge difference between the jointed monsters that many call swim baits. The type and rigging of the hook has an effect on the rod choice. Swim baits come in all shapes, sizes, hook set up, sections and lure weights. Be sure to include the specifics of the swim bait you want to use when you discuss the blank options. Many choices are available. You can end up with the wrong blank if you simply ask for a swim bait rod.

Please link to [www.swamplandtackle.com] for information on the swim bait blanks listed above and the set up required for you choice of swimbaits.

Great advise Bill, I have to ask what specific swimbait, what is the weight and are there hooks exposed. You will be able to point him in the right direction once he provides the info needed. Like crankbaits, not all swimbaits are created equal.

go with the Rainshadow (baston) ISWB945 , this rod will handle 6" and 8" Hudds very good . yes , i have a rod made off of this blank . i only throw the 8" Hudds , they (8" hudds) weigh between 4 oz. and 5.1 oz.
