Green Blanks and Thread Colors

Has anyone found a thread color that looks good on gloss green blanks besides light green, green, and dark green?

Thanks,
Marc

I like garnet on a green blank (with copper metallic trim).

Blues are complimentary. And Cabelas always used to package both green and gold thread with their green blanks

Billy gave some good advice ... earth tones. Think about the colors you see occuring in nature.

Hi Marc,
I build on green-colored blanks quite a bit. One color that works well (for me) is the Gudebrod orange/black classic twist ( the orange is actually a rust color). I trim that with teal or a metallic thread that contrasts with both the warp and the blank color. I had heard that Gudebrod was discontinuing these color twist threads and then I heard they were being brought back. I recently wrapped a green blank with Pac Bay Mocha with orange trim. I still like the Mocha, but the orange doesn't work as well as I thought it would. I had based my choice based on a pair of NB walking shoes which were mocha brown and orange. The garnet and copper mentioned sounds good as well. I'll have to try that on my next green colored blank. Have fun.

I agree with Billy also, earth tones. I think Med Brown with no CP looks great on the Gloss Green blanks. I have done a couple like that and used Copper trim, looks great.

You can always do a test wrap on the butt where the handle goes.

All the browns look good. I also really like 340 gold. I hardly ever use CP, but these colors look good either way.

I'll second (or third) the 340 Gold. Looks garishly bright before finishing, but with no CP, turns a delicious caramel color. Add a touch of gold trim. Very rich looking.

I was going to say anything but red since it looks kind-of Christmas-like, but seems alot of folks like that combo too, so just about anything?

I also do alot of gloss green blanks, and my favorite is Gudebrod #105 Spring Green trim bands/underwraps with Orange/Black Classic Twist as the "main" color. It sounds odd, but try a sample at the butt area before you put the handle on and see what you think. I love it. I think there may be some photos of one in my gallery here. If not, I will post one of the recent ones I did.

Also just did a 2wt fly rod on a Rainshadow blank in Olympic Green with the Fishhawk variegated Sandstone color. I will post a pic of that one too.

As Billy said...can't go wrong with earth tones.

Hi,

Does anybody know the name of the green color of the warp shown here?
thelongestcast.com/index.php?p=techceramic

In my opinion it isn't spring green or medium green.

Thanks.

Looks more gold to me ? To match the ring color.

Might be Trimar Green/Gold ?? [system.netsuite.com]

Try to call them
