Just wondering how many builders that sell custom rods, build for customers that furnish their own blanks and components.

When your super glue tube gets stopped up don't squeeze the crap out of it. Last time I did that it shot straight for my eye, luckily I was able to close my eye before it hit my eye ball, but I couldn't get back open. That took a emergency room trip.

Threadmaster, its the. Clearest I have found that dries like I need it to. I never have bubble problems. I'm intrigued to try liquiglass, guess I will have to wait for ICRBE.

Don't think that the "high end" factory rods are built on any better of a blank than the ones you mentioned. Very few are. I have fished with low end rods and once you get tuned into the bite you can match anyone fish for fish. It might be watching the Line or holding the line with your finger. Ill take a well built custom 35.00 blank over any High end rod on the market.

Alex, it does dry fast about the same as what you have used. I have no problem with the color matching.

I have eliminated my finish problems from such contaminates that cause fish eyes, finish not sticking to blank and such by using a automotive prep sol. It's used to wipe down the area to be painted before any sanding is done which keeps from sanding silicones (from waxes) into the finish. It has really helped when doing repairs as many of the rods have had wax and polishes on them. Alot of the b

I chuck the blank in my lathe and only use one support on the very tip. Lock the chuck and wipe on one side from butt to tip. Then unlock and rotate 180 degrees re lock and coat the other side. I also use a foam brush but rather than hold the brush by the handle like Im painting I remove the foam from the handle and hold it with my fingers actually wrapping around the blank and wipe the Lumiseal

I told you Tom, the FishHawk metallics are the most friendliest to wrap with and all your headaches would be gone! I assure you that the product line is hear for the long haul, its a great product that will serve the rodbuilding community for years to come, from the hobbyist to OEMs.

If you have to use a cork filler, Pit Paste is the best cork filler you will find. Ask any of the sponsors on the left side if they carry Roddancer products.

I have finished several colors without cp and found them to darken a few shades. The thread is a 2 ply polyester thats not lubricated. I have only finished a few of the darker colors that really turned out nice, I used Threadmaster high build and also finished some with Lumiseal. My suggestion is to try the colors you have with the finish you like and see if you like the results.

Bill, is right on the money with the cork magic. This stuff cleans the cork and don't leave a soapy residue after cleaned like the simple green and other concentrated cleaners do, especially after getting them wet again. After cleaned it leaves the cork feeling like new cork, not a better cork cleaner made. I use it on every repair, most guys don't even think its there rod when handing it to the

Lorenzo I don't believe either of the guide sizes you have mentioned will be too small for a heavy action flippin rod I have had really good success with both sizes Fuji and Batson on flippin rods with line as large as 20lb mono. I wouldn't hesitate a bit on using them conventional or spiral. Build yourself one and fish it, you will be surprised.

Putting them on this way def. eliminates any contact with the frame, even if it is slight.

I actually have a customer that request me to put his 1st guide on that way. He has seen the Japaneese rods I believe and is convinced the line dont slap the guide frame when casting. I have test casted each and cant find any measurable difference in the two. But it looks ok, and actually has him convinced it works better. The next spinning rod I build him Im going to put all the spinning guides

I got to cast the Castaway Microwave rod at ICAST. Lance, myself and Lynn Williams took the rod outside the convention center on a 115 degree day. I got some pics and some video. Got a good video of the line going thru the 1st guide that I can run in slow motion that looks pretty cool. We did cast a factory rod also with the wave spin reel and weight, built with a cone of flight setup. The Micr

Bob your right when you say versatile. Ive cut 6 and 8 inches off these blanks. It should be a very popular blank, fresh and saltwater.

Lighter and more durable. Sounds like a win win situation for the blank business. Im sure there will be some debuts at ICAST.
