I like the way you talk Jim Gamble. The old saying "Quality Aint Cheap and Cheap Aint Quality" dont really hold true anymore. You have to ask though, where does it go from here?

Greg, Lumiseal will give you the high gloss finish your looking for. Its a 1 part urethane finish that is very durable and easy to work with. Blowing thru the straw as Jim suggested above works for me, alcohol lamp if needed with quick passes under the finish.

Patrick, your website is awesome! Great blog! I registered so I can keep up with your fishing success. It was a pleasure to meet you there, there are many vendors who would like to see the expo as you did but just not possible for them to. I'm glad you came to the expo, I wish Jim could have made it, for this time he could have enjoyed it without working both days of it. You picked a good mentor

Charles, Thats correct you will not need to use cp on the mettalic threads to retain there luster, only the nylons (non NCP) , silks and polyesters. So if you mix the mettalic with the others, cp wont effect your mettalic color.

Lance , Its always a pleasure to see you and your wife, your daughter and granddaughter looked like they had a good time. I'm glad you could get a little down time before the show, I'm just glad no one was injured with all the down hill sledding.

Joe, Thanks for the time you spent with me showing me all the products you brought and talking about the new stuff coming in a few months. The High Modulus Classic blanks looked very nice, I was impressed with those. Your right there is definitely a market right now since IMX and GLX is out of the picture. The design on the Ring Lock Micros is just what was needed. I know there will be plent

I would like to thank everyone that stopped by the booth. I believe it was the best expo to date! We had a great interest in the new FishHawk Variegated threads that were debuted this weekend as practically all the spools were gone early on Saturday. We will work hard to fill the orders as fast as possible and have all colors available for order in short time. Also thanks to all the customers tha

I was also glad to see Capt. Ray Brown made the trip to help out in the Fishsticks booth this year, we missed him last year as he truly is a big asset to the booth. Also Jim Parker was very helpful with his saltwater rod building experience, these guys make a great team and I hope to see them next year.

Walt If you wanted to consider a Composite blank, give Scott at Fishsticks a call. He has the Lamiglas Composite crankbait blanks that I build alot of. There light and the glass tips are nice. You can also get a 17 reel seat on them. The Glass crankbaiters I have built these for really liked them because of the weight and diameter of the blank without giving up the soft glass tip.

I know exactly what you mean Steve, I have alot of other threads that wont get a second thought now that I have found FishHawh. Those inferior metallics used to drive me crazy trying to get a good wrap. Now no more problems unraveling and knotting, things are much easier, and I need all the help I can get.

I want to welcome everyone attending the expo to stop by the RodDancer booth and check out all the fine products we will have to offer this year. It's always good to see old friends and meet new ones. The Threadmaster finishes and Ultimate Gels are still increasing in popularity as they truly are second to none. We have a great selection of the original Exotic cork rings like Laguna, Burnt and C

I dont think it will be hard enough for a lure finish. I have sprayed some automotive clear coate with hardner on some lures and after several hours of fishing a crankbait the hooks wore thru the finish just swinging and after several fish were caught at the end of the day they were trashed. The only thing I found that will withstand anything is Devcon two ton epoxy. Thinned and sprayed its so ha

You will have to ream the 17 seat although I haven't built one with that short of handle. If you can use the 17 it will give you a better feel as it has a smaller diameter and the ecsm 17 Will let you palm the reel better. On the BS756S I had to use a 20 and nobody makes a 20 that I like, even cutting the seat for blank exposed it works but its a big honkin seat.

The best way I have found and I have done many is to use a small breakaway blade knife and scrape back and forth to remove the finish. Dont lay the blade down any as it will cut into the graphite, hold it vertically with the blank laying horizonally. It reall comes off nicely, then use a fine scothbrite pad to lightly remove whats left. Just a caution not to scrape too long on one spot as you can

I doubt very seriously if you can buy blanks and components there, mostly what rod companies that will be there will promote there factory rods and that will be a small handful of vendors.

144. Re: CTS
I have a CTS I use for dropshotting and havent found anything that compars to it. Its a Elite Bait Tournament 161026 built with Fuji Titanium singe leg spinning guides. A bit pricey set up but very nice. Give Fishsticks a call Scott can help you out.

It looks good to me. Wish I could do it. Thats about as custom as you can get and adds a truly custom look to a fine rod, as long as the handwriting looks good. I would use it with no hesitations. Good job.

Dan. I would pick the 823 for your application. I dont think you will get good hook penetration fishing a jig with the 822.5 as it has a much softer tip.

Will, I use a wet tile saw with a smooth diamond blade, it dosent chip the ends and the water helps with the fiberglass dust that seems to irratate my hands. I use the texalium with a aero spinning seat so the end under the reel seat is ok, but I have had the butt end flake after using a few times. To correct this I put a small decorative thread wrap on the end and finish it, havent had any conce

I dont like the feel of the two piece spinning seat, just not comfortable. However the casting is not as bad.The most comfortable seats for me are; spinning - Aero casting - castaway
