Just about every company or individual has a phone. If you email someone and don't get a reply, PICK UP THE PHONE. Call the supplier, ask him questions. Tell him you are dissapointed in his service and demand that he make things right. In this day and age people tend to forget that they can call someone. Don't only rely on email. Things happen and he may never have received your email.

I've always had great customer service from Decal Connection. Just because no one is praising them about their customer service every tenth post dosen't mean that their service went down the drain. Would you quit buying from Mudhole or Custom Tackle or any other board sponsor because you don't see any great reviews or high praises about any of them ?

You either have their rod varnish or rod finish and not epoxy. I've used the varnish once or twice some time back on some repairs that I needed to get out that afternoon. It'll take you at least 7 to 10 coats if you want a high build look.

You would have been better off buying a roll of reamer grit distributed by Flex Coat and sold by a number of suppliers on the sponsor list. It's a grit glued onto a heavy duty cloth backing that's much longer lasting and much more durable than the carbide grit. Heat from reaming tends to loosen the grit and you would need to apply more grit as they fall off of the reamer blank. Grit also tend

Why not pull out your thread and do a few sample wraps on a scrap blank or a wooden dowel painted black and put your finish on. You can do four or five test wraps then pick the one you like the best. You can get 50 different color combinationd from 50 different people but you can't see what it looks like until you do it yourself.

Brent, just sent you an email. I just got in a while ago. I normally go 10 inches from the beginning of the grip to the end of the butt cap on a 7' rod. Sometimes I'll go 8 inches because some people just like a shorter grip especially if they're a little large in the midsection. A shorter handle makes it a little easier to cast especially when wade fishing. On a 6 1/2' rod I'll make it about 7 i

Use super glue or epoxy and it will fall apart. Use contact ement and you can expext your reamer to last for years.

If you buy a can of contact cement and after cleaning up the reamer, take a throw away brush and coat the blank and the back side of the abrasive. Wait until both pieces are no longer tacky then spiral wrap the abrasive to the reamer blank. Let cure for three or four hours then ream to your hearts content. They do not come apart. I have some reamers made using contact cement that have been in

What I don't understand is why are some saying the use of dull tools or drill bits are better than sharp ones for acrylics or even wood for that matter. A sharp drill bit will cut with much less friction causing less heat build up. Too much heat is one of the main reasons for causing blow outs or cracking. With a dull bit or tool you have to force your bit or tool to make those cuts and when you

I turn all of my acrylics at the highest speed my Jet mini will go which is around 3000 RPM's. A SHARP tool is a must and take light passes . You don't want to rush when turning acrylics. I round off my square stock with a Penn State Versa Chisel and then use a skew for finishing. A rounded skew to me is the best and I've tried different ones in the past. I use a Wolverine sharpening jig to sharp

I sold close to two dozen of the inner line rods made by Pinnacle and Daiwa a few years ago. Not one person that bought them had anything good to say about them. I used one of Daiwa's rod for a few trips to see how well they worked. They cast pretty good for the first dozen or so casts then when the blank filled with water from reeling in the line the casting distance dropped by half or more. Dai

Sonnds like those rods were made by a small localized manufacturer making rods specific to the area. Compare the guides to the guides manufactured by the board sponsors. Batson, American Tackle, CUI, Fuji, Sevier all have onloine catalogs that could be used to compare the guides to your repair job.

Billy, I have seen and handled one of the ACS casting reel seats and wasn't impressed with the feel of it. I didn't find it be be comfortable to hold. I haven't seen the spinning version until I went back and looked at the picture of it.

I just finished reading the latest news from Tackletour.com. They were doing short reviews of new rods from some of the major manufacturers and I noticed that more of the major manufacturers were employing more custom features that we've been using over the last few years. More noticable were the aluminum winding checks that Kistler may be adding to their no foregrip rods and the split grip ha

You should be using fiberglass resin instead of epoxy to bond your fiberglass mat assuming that's what you're doing.

I've cut one with a dremel tool with a reinforced cutting disc. It cut nice and clean then I took an exacto knife with a new blade and trimmed the edges a little and rounded the inside edge of the threads.

Several years ago I used to give all of my rods a coat of Reel and Line magic after completed. One time I sprayed a couple of rods while several were turning and a couple of hours later the finish had large fisheyes on every guide wrap. I didn't realize at first but it dawned on me later that's what was the cause of my problem, slicone contamination.

ALWAYS order two or three decals just for insurance if you mess up on the first one. A couple of extra decals added to the price of the rod won't make much diffference but will give you peace of mind knowing you have a backup decal in case anything goes wrong.

On certain clored metallics that's something that can hardly be helped. Just try to keep your tags as short as possible and tuck them on the underside of your guide so they'll be less noticeable.
