Does anyone have any experience with the One Part Gudebrod epoxy? I picked up a bottle today at Cabelas and thought it might be the ticket for when I have one guide to do for a repair. So, what are people experiences w/ it?\

One part EPOXY? Never heard of it. Are you sure that you don't mean their one part rod finish?? If so, it's not an epoxy. Haven't used it myself Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!! Re: Gudebrod Epoxy

You either have their rod varnish or rod finish and not epoxy. I've used the varnish once or twice some time back on some repairs that I needed to get out that afternoon. It'll take you at least 7 to 10 coats if you want a high build look. Re: Gudebrod Epoxy

to my knowledge all epoxies are a two part finish Re: Gudebrod Epoxy

I have used it and it is a one part rod finish. I have used it on feather inlays and ice rods...dries fast and needs about 3 coats to look nice

I've used it for a few projects, it's good for a touchup or quick repair, however the durability over time is not so good. Re: Gudebrod Epoxy

It works well, but it's not an epoxy.

Yeah the bottle does say finish, I am just used to saying epoxy, anyway does the stuff work alright?? I use threadmaster for rods but I have a hard time mixing up 3cc's of each for 1 guide repair. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 09/23/2007 12:44PM by Scott Sheets. Re: Gudebrod Epoxy

Scott, I routinely mix up less than 1/2 cc of threadmaster (using syringes) and haven't had ANY problwm at all!! Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!! Re: Gudebrod Epoxy

I'm with Mike no reason to waste that much epoxy Re: Gudebrod Epoxy

Not to join the argument about epoxy/not epoxy, but are you talking about Permagloss?

Hah, no not Permagloss, I have used that in the past as well. This stuff is in a small bottle, made by gudebrod and called One Part Regular Rod Finish. It goes on somewhat thicker than permagloss but seems to need a few coats. It was only about $3.50 at Cabelas so I thought I would give it a try. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
