G'day,
Has anyone attempted to shorten one of the Fuji soft touch seats (shortening the threaded section of the seat)? Does the "soft touch" coating cut OK or does it get torn up and look daggy? Regards Jason Re: Shortening Fuji soft touch reel seat

I've cut one with a dremel tool with a reinforced cutting disc. It cut nice and clean then I took an exacto knife with a new blade and trimmed the edges a little and rounded the inside edge of the threads. Re: Shortening Fuji soft touch reel seat

Jason.
No problem, I marked mine with a pencil and carefully cut it with a hacksaw. Then I trued it up in a lathe. No ragged edges. Have fun! Jeff Re: Shortening Fuji soft touch reel seat

I have modified 2 of the Fuji soft touch reel seats with no problems at all. I used a miter box and a hack saw blade and then sandpaper on a block for the fine tuning. Be sure and match the reel to the seat so that you don't remove too much. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
