Hi everyone,
I returned from the Castaway office late last night after picking up more of their discontinued blanks. These were some of the more popular blanks that I sold in High Point in Feb.and quickly ran out of.
I just listed them on my website on the closeouts page. Mag Bass 7' models in 844's and 845's in gloss blue and Mag Bass 845's in matte teal . These blanks would make great rod

If you are using 246 NCP thread the color of the thread will not darken when the finish is applied. If you are using the 246 Regular nylon, then when you apply your finish the thread will darken and you will get that transparent look.

1.25 Reading glasses. Buy them at discount or drugstores for around 8 to 10 dollars per pair. I have about 12 pairs in the shop, around the house and in my vehicle. Much more comfortable than wearing something on my head.

695. EVA Split Grips
Hi everyone,
Just wanted to let everyone know that the black EVA butt grips has arrived and are again listed on my website for purchase. This three piece set is very light in weight and only weighs in at 20 grams with the composite cap and 17 grams with the EVA butt cap.
Give them a try on your next order and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at how lightweight and durable they are

696. Re: USPS Price Alert
I've had more than one issue sending blanks by the postal service. I only ship them by UPS now . I compared prices with Fed Ex and they are both within a couple of dollars of each other, some going UPS's way and some going Fed Ex's way.

Not a very safe way to work. Don't get me wrong, I use a torch daily in my rodbuilding but not at a point to setting things on fire.

700. Re: Rod Market
I've been building rods full time for 6 years now and don't see an end in sight. If you put out a good product people will come back for more and refer their friends to you and before you know it the friends will be sending THEIR friends to you for rods and that vicious cycle just keeps on repeating itself.
I sell rods at boat and sport shows in and around Louisiana and Texas and always get se

Freddy boy.... it's already sold. I didn't have much room for it and I was offered an offer that I just couldn't refuse. Just keep this between us, my wife doesn't know yet.

Thanks everyone, it's still a work in progress and I'd say it's about 90% complete, There's still some editing to do and more content to add. Just keep checking back and if anyone has any questions don't hesitate to call or email me anytime. Lynn, I even Googled the word Misc. and still I wound up getting it wrong.
Thanks again,
Lance

Hi William, I may have what you're looking for in a jig rod in the exact specs that you're looking for and at a price that won't break the bank. It's Castaway's XP3 model in a matte black and it only weighs in at 2 .2 ounces. Here is a link to the specs.

How did you order ? on line ? did you call to confirm that the order has been received ? Did you check to see if they had everything you ordered in stock ? Maybe most items are on backorder and they are waiting on a restocking shipment to fill the complete order. Maybe it's being dropped shipped from the manufacturer. That's several questions that only your supplier can answer. If everything was

Take a look here. Scroll down just a little. You will use mostly the thin then after switch to the medium or the medium thick for your last two or three coats.

707. Re: Pulling Thread?
On guide wraps pul your thread until it just goes under your wrap then cut it at that spot and pull your tag through and you won't have anything to cut as it will be hidden under the wrap. On trim bands get yourself a cuticle nipper from the beauty section of a discount store. You can cut the tag end of metallic thread right down to the wrap without any nub showing.

Anthony, in the very near future Swampland Rods will have available the very seats you are looking for. I should know within a few days when my shipment of seats will arrive and I'll make an announcement here on the board. We had a few sets of them at the rodbuilders show in High Point this year and quickly ran out.

It'll work good but you need to spray a couple of coats of white before the hi - vis paint to get the full effect of the flourescent paint.

If you're buffing nickel, or aluminum you may want to have a separate set-up for metal. Using specific metal compounds and buffing certain metal components will turn your cloth wheels black.
I wouldn't want to use metal polishing compounds on my wheels where I would turn around and then buff acrylic or wood seats or handles. I would definately have a separate set-up.

The only roller tip that can be used on a spiral rod is the All American @#$%& roller tip. It is made strictly for use on spirals. You can't use any other brand of roller tip this way. The AST-110 is a swivel top made by Aftco. Get a refund and contact a sponsor that sells the All American brand of Rollers. I think Mudhole sells them.

Aaron, nowhere in the above posts does it mention that they are under a contract not to disclose their source for their blanks. I'm sure if they wanted to they would, but face it, if It was my company I wouldn't want to disclose my sources either. Lots of companies choose not to disclose that kind of information for proprietary reasons. If every rodbuilder were to know what blanks they used I'm

Billy, I'm still trying to to earn enough money to buy it from her. I sure wish you'd have told ME that I was going to win it instead of her then I might not be in this predicament. And Billy it's always a pleasure to see you and Rachael said you are a "cute and very polite guy".

Thanks to everyone again.

717. Re: Blank ID needed
Walt, Jim and Steve are correct. That is a Castaway blank that was built into their production rods. That particular model was discontinued and I bought their closeouts from them. SWA is short for Swampland.

Clyde's in rehab right now and probably won't be able to make it. He was off the jerky for the last 6 months but last night had a relapse and ate so much jerky that hid jaws locked up and all he could do is moan and groan now. At least he got his old room back at the rehab center and should be well taken care of until we get back.
