There is a company out there called oceangirl that is marketing fishing rods for women. The have some pictures on their website of various color combinations on pink rods. Black, silver, and purple/lavender would look good. Just my thoughts

I did like Barry said. I slid the butt cap over the Rod Armor, and finished with a short trim band/epoxy to complement guides and butt wrap.It turned out great. I also did this up against the reel seat on both the rear grip and foregrip.

I've thought about modifying the "new style" carriage with the horizontal spool holders. I was going to a similar dimension threaded rod, and drill a small hole about 1" in front of the horizontal rod. This shoud allow adequate space for the spools of thread. A small washer and bolt on the bottom, and the same hardware from the horizontal spool(spring, wing nut) on top. I have yet

Most of my Fishing is done in NY/Great Lakes region where the conditions can go from sunny to WHITEOUT blizzard in a matter of hours. Freezing of the guides is of great concern and can be a royal pain. Larger guides are a neccessity to minimize the freezing. LAst Nov. I went to bed with no snow on the ground, and woke up to 18" and counting. Still went fishing and had a blast. Nothing like

I've built a couple of rods with the triangle foregrip. They are really comfortable. I purchased mine from one of the vendors on the left. If I recall, they come in a few different lengths. All I has to do was round down one of the ends to get a nice taper towards the winding check.

Everyone Thanks for the advice. I am going to try every single idea mentioned in the above posts and see if it will fix the issue. With that said: After I re-chucked the rod last night (for the umteenth time), I noticed some epoxy damage where the rod, while drying, bumped into something after it fell leaving some blemishes in the drying Flexcoat. Is it possible to cut out 24hr old epox

I've got a power wrapper with the upgraded aluminum chuck. I've built a few rods on it just fine. On my last build, the rod seems like it wants to "unscrew" itself from the chuck. I know there have been some issues with the chuck loosening, but I've used duct tape, I've tightened, I've wrapped the aluminum gimbal on the rod with tape, and nothing seems to be working???? I am guessi

I just built a tuna rod for a guy to try out on his new 47' Davis. I used the RT6350 blank and a 17.75 inch short uni-butt from batson as well. this puts the total inches around 84 inches give or take. He took it to his boat last weekend and noticed that his "other rods" were about 12" shorter. He is comparing it to an 80lb class rod he had. The shorter rod does reach over the cove

Will Threadmaster Ultimate Gel Structural Epoxy Adhesive work well for gluing on a roller top on a 50lb tuna rod? I wasn't sure about using the standard, melt with a lighter tip adhesive for such a heavy line class rod. Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.

I just read a post on here about black wraps and Flexcoat CP creating a "milky" finish. Not exactly what I am looking for. I've already coated my gold underwraps with Flexcoat CP. Will it be ok to coat the black D thread double wrapped guides (tuna stick) with U40 Color Lock then use Flexcoat HIGH Build finish over the U40? I've never mixed brands of products and have used Flexc

OK. I've got a BRVSG53 roller Stripper, a BSTLG20, 16, 12, 12 and a roller top on a RT6350 blank. My foregrip is 10 inches. Any starting points on guide spacing? I've played with the static line test and can't seem to get it just right. I feel like I've got proper clearance for winds ons, I just need to get the spacing correct. Anyone out there have a similar setup with some starting points for s

I've got a Batson RT6350 blank which I assumed had a size 14 tip based on literature. I just tried to put a AFTCO roller top size 14 on the blank and got rejected!!! My tip gauge doesn't go that big, and when I put the calipers on the blank I come up with .222 Quick math says it looks like I need a size 15 or 16. Can anyone dryfit this blank so I don't keep ordering the wrong size?

I've got a Rainshadow RT6350 blank rated for 50lb. What guide sizing and spacing would you recommend? I was planning a roller top and roller stripper guide. The rod will mostly be used for tuna fishing. Any recommendations on foregrip length would be great also. I"ve got a unibutt for the rod. Thanks

Just started pieceing together my first surf rod. Heres what I've got so far - Batson SU1418F blank Any recommendations on guide spacing and sizes? This is my first surf rod and I need all the help I can get. I'm leaning toward the Batson BUDUG guides since I've got a 30, 25, 16(x2), and 12(x2) along with a BSUUT 12F10 top. thoughts, recommendations, spacing etc. would be a great h

How many guides should go on a 10ft spinning rod used primarily for salmon fishing. Anyone know of any measuring charts for guide placement to give me a starting point before I do line/guide testing?

I've fished on some charter boats that have had custom built rods on them in the 30-130 lb. class. It seems to me like the entire rod, from winding check to tip was "finished" (guides, blank, etc) Am i imaginging things or is this the case? Thanks for the insight in advance.

Been doing some research on higher end rod wrapping machines and some say they spin fast enough to turn cork? How effective and accurates are the wrappers in doing this? Do the higher end chicks accept mandrels? etc. Any info and/or personal experiences would be great.

Does anyone know who manufactures a foregrip in the triangle shape? I fished with one recently and it was very comfortable to hold onto when fighting a fish. Is this something that may have to be made out of EVA stock material? and if so, how?

I guess I left out a bunch of critical info. So here goes it: Reel = TLD 20 Line test = 20-30 bait = naked ballyhoo rod length = 6'6" stand up fishing while trolling from rod holder - 8" mimimum butt with aluminum gimbal Most of my fishing is done in the mid-atlantic area but also have opportunities in The Keys now with family down there that own two boats.
