I've got a Rainshadow RT6350 blank rated for 50lb. What guide sizing and spacing would you recommend? I was planning a roller top and roller stripper guide. The rod will mostly be used for tuna fishing.
Any recommendations on foregrip length would be great also. I"ve got a unibutt for the rod. Thanks Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 03/13/2007 09:46PM by Jesster Brindisi. Re: IGFA trolling Blank

Are you fishing stand-up? If you are, there are blanks better suited for that purpose. If you're chair fishing, you're good to go.
Generally 5 guides (sometimes 6) plus the tip are all you need for IGFA blanks. I'm assuming you're doing a roller top, roller stripper, and rings for the running/intermediate guides. If you aren't fishing wind-on leaders, you can stick with Aftco HDs for the rollers. If wind-on leaders will be used, then I'd step up to the Aftco #47 wind-on stripper and an Aftco top with the BIG head. For the running guides I would go down to a size 10 if not using wind-on leaders or size 12 if wind-ons were to be used. I would like Fuji LRSGs or even the newer HBSGs here. A setup like Aftco #47, LRSG 16, 16, 12, 12 should work and look nice. You could even sub a third 12 in place of the second 16 if your static test allows. That would make for a good wind-on leader capable rod. You also may look into the roller guides from All American. They offer line clearance as good or greater than Aftco's Wind-On series, but have much smaller frames. Grips...assuming you're doing a chair rod...don't need to be more than 10" with 12" being the max. Good luck & good fishing! Jay Re: IGFA trolling Blank

OK. I've got a BRVSG53 roller Stripper, a BSTLG20, 16, 12, 12 and a roller top on a RT6350 blank. My foregrip is 10 inches. Any starting points on guide spacing? I've played with the static line test and can't seem to get it just right. I feel like I've got proper clearance for winds ons, I just need to get the spacing correct? Anyone out there have a similar setup with some starting points for spacing?
