Mix more. Try: Flat mixing tool Mix 100 strokes right, 100 left, then 50 right, and finally 50 left. Works 100% of the time, and you cant get the finish out of the plastic cup, it's STUCK. DR

Cheating: If not too far out, you can warm up the fresh epoxy, shift the guide with thumb, add another coat of epoxy and roll on like it never even happened :-) I'm NOT suggesting this as a "standard" to do, but it can work. DR

The Pacific Bay Rainforest II are one SWEET blank!! DO NOT let the cost fool you. Matter of fact I'll bet $$ you've held the same blank that costs twice as much from others. The MagBass Rainforest series is ESPECIALLY nice. You wont regret buying one. DR

All it takes is a little bit of emailing to GLoomis and then to Decal Connection and they will make them for you. You don't have to go cut hardwood or anything mind blowing to get it done and done right. DR

Pacific Bay and Decal Connection, both need a big THANK YOU!! from me. Pacific Bay took care of a broken rod blank for me that came crushed and didn't even bat an eye, GREAT SERVICE!!! Decal Connection also went a little above and beyond on some decals I was working with, and that allowed me to get finished on time. Thank you Debbie!! DR

Odd timing, I have been keeping my daughters cat while they move from one state to another (had her since Christmas) and I simply shut the cat out of the rod room totally, but every time I forget to shut the door she goes in. Personally I hate it, and will be darn glad when she goes home! DR

One more easy idea that will look nice too and be effortless...... Fill the entire gap with something like rod bond and get it nice and smooth and nearly, but not quite level with the reel seat. Let cure. Now take red metallic thread (or any color) and wrap over the epoxy. Now put on two coats of thread finish over just the thread and you now have a ncie looking 1/4" trim ring behind your

Roger, I didn't see where you had a dog in this fight before my post-why call me out? Maybe you should have helped the guy instead, rather than waiting on my responce then going in the opposite direction to make things even more confusing for the guy that needs the help. My responce was MY WAY of making it work, and work every time, for ME. Everyone here that makes a post here on the R

On LONG wraps, always use the slowest curing, thinnest epoxy you can find for the 1st coat and make sure to apply that coat SUPER thin. Plan on applying 2 more coats later, the 1st thin coat will not only allow air to disperse, but it will allow it to disperse MUCH easier than a thicker coat will. Never apply heat either, let it do it's thing. If you still have bubbles after using a thin slow cur

Cheaper: Batson RX7 802.75 = the 822.5 with more butt power and faster lockup. Better: FANTASTIC choice and one I prefer is Batson XSB843-TC DR

Most powders like Pearl X do VERY well, and do not adjust the properties of the finish like a liquid will. The Automotive paint powders are also great and work very well like Ken suggested. DR

Ream out: flex coat bits Rounding edges: rough sandpaper and move to finer paper as you get close to your shape. If you have a lot of material to remove, a Sur-Foam file will help get you close faster. DR

Burton, I have wrapped a LOT of the PacBay MB Rainforest series, and these are emerald green. I dont pay attention to the blank color! You'll find that anything will work with it. Billy V taught me that on thread colors, you cant put two together and make them "bad". DR

Hunter, The smaller the ring gets the less casting distance you'll get with knoted lines. BUT, ... there is not much difference in a 5 versus a 6mm. But again, I always STAY with 6mm when leaders will be used. What you could do to reduce weight is go to something like a minima guide, these have bigger openings and you can get by with going a lot smaller. Another option would be to go to re

I have paste style, and two different liquids, all three have their place for sure. Paste: reel seats (other than the soft touch kind, those require liquid because the paste will stain the soft touch finish), cork grips 5 minute liquid: top tops, butt caps, a small grip or one I need on tight fast, cork rings (short grip), fiberglass mesh tape arbor, and reel seats of I'm in a hurry 30

Mag Bass is nothing more than a bass rod blank with more butt power, simple. I concider MagBass blanks to be about the only blank I like building and using for most all bass fishing, striped bass fishing, and several others. It's a versitile blank that can do many things. DR
