What is the best way to ream EVA grips ? I have tried several bit types ,including forstner bits. I don't like the results.Thanks in advance for your help.

I ream EVA grips the same way that I ream any of my other blank material.
I use various sizes of circular files used in a variable speed drill running backwards. It leaves a nice clean finish with no ripping or tearing.


When using these files, I cut the handles off of the files and size the ends of the files to fit into the chuck of the drill that I use to power the files when reaming.
Normally, I keep the speed of the files relatively low. But if needed, the speed can be increased with the to[www.amazon.com] of the trigger on the drill.

What are you trying to ream them for, jus tbuy several of the lengths you want in a variety of sizes and you'll always have the right size. If you are power reaming the only ones to use are the Dream reamers or make them yourself using FC Reamer abrasive strips. Do not use the ones with the coated grit under power unless you want a bald reamer and you want to figure out a way to remove all teh embedded grit form inside teh grip without tearing your blank apart.

Always try to get the size close to the blank

You should only VERY rarely have to ream EVA. It reams just fine, but because it stretches and compresses, progress is slower. The grip contracts after the reamer stretches it slightly, so in effect material removal is slower. Get your EVA size as close to the blank destination as you can, and install by stretching it into place down the blank. EVA is cheap, get a few pieces more in different sizes and get it right first time. A lot less hassle.

For those the Flex Coat bits work the best. Just go slow and they work great.
