The only gunsmoke guides I'm aware of are the SiCs. Are you sure they didn't give you the good stuff by mistake the first time?

Like all the other Pure Fishing products, (Fenwick, Berkeley, Mitchell, etc) they are all off shore production with no blanks available. If you can get the rod you could CC it and maybe we could come up with a substitute.

Are we talking about the Mitchell Fulcrum rods? That's the only one I know of.

Inaki, Angler's Workshop to the left is a sponsor who carries and uses Talon blanks. The perfect people to talk about this question. They are in the same town as Talon, Lamiglas and G Loomis and also carry Sage, Thomas and Thomas, St Croix, Rainshadow and Winston. If they can't help you, I don't know who can, great people to do business with.

Shawn, I'm no expert on All Stars, but I think the BAT designation was the IM-10 series blanks. 826T could be a pitch/jig blank MH power, 12-20 lb line, 3/8 to 3/4 oz lures, with a telescoping butt if I'm close. The 905SB would be a spin bass, 8-17 lb line, 14 to 5/8 oz lure, medium power, faster actioned. The other I don't have a clue other than it appears to be a heavier powered 8ft 6 in blank

Charlie, Has he talked with Loomis? Just because the rod's not made doesn't mean they can't replace the tip. They hold some stock back for warranty repairs.

Guide sizes are the same, a size 1 is a size one. In the doubles there is the British and US differences you usually only see them in the Hopkins & Holloway guides that Sage uses though. REC, or others like Struble or Bellinger can be brought at the sponsors to the left. Angler's Workshop is one place that caries all 3 brands.

Ferrules from tubing fittings, would be a local source. Type selection would be minimal, stainless, brass and plastics.

Justin, The St Croix 3,4,5C68MXF and the Batson SB, ISB, RX8+ 822.5 are all good tops & tails blanks. The actions and power are almost exactly like the All Star Tops & Tails blanks that we can no longer get. There are some similar S Glass blanks also.

Wayne's suggestion of the glass blank would be a nice blank that bends all the way into the butt and would make a great kids rod. Built a travel rod for my dad on the 6 piece glass blank that bends double on most fish that your talking about and the tip throws just about anything you'd want on 2 pound line.

Batson has a 4 piece 6 ft blank in the bass section. I put my 3 piece travel blanks across my bars, they ride fine there.

Rod bond will work, use it sparingly and don't get any near the eva joint and you'll be fine. If you do get some in the joint wash it out with alcohol and a brush or you'll see a glue joint.

32 mm is 1.26 inches so I imagine it will put you in the 24 - 26mm reelseat range. Are you using the 19% number or the 11% that Tom says he uses more.

Was fishing on a stream in CA that Lefty Kreh and Mel Kruger were both fishing, was 1990 I think. I watched them just choke up on the rods they were using when they got into a tight spot. Tried it myself, it works, but not near as well as they were doing it. Ended up just sitting on the bank and watching those guys work, I don't think I've ever seen a smoother, more accurate caster in my life tha

Jason is this a centerpin rod? The Fuji Ti guides are a much darker color than the almost white AmTack Titan Nanolites. Wouldn't think you need to transition from Match, to spin, to fly. Just match to fly. I also wouldn't think it would take more than 3 guides to get to the fly guides. Colorwise a chrome guide would be close to the AmTack Titan flys, I would think about all Titans or all Fuji Ti

Terry, There are some offset baitcasting grips still out there made now by Super Sticker that may also help, the rear hole is in the center of the grip as normal but the forend is offset 15 degrees. The reelseat has a matching opposite offset. Messing with the offset may get some design thoughts going also. I may have an old grip from the original Wiebe design around somewhere and if I do I co

Tim, Assuming your right handed isn't the handle naturally pointing almost down anyway as that is the only position that ergonomically releases the wrist to move during a cast? Thumb up works when fly casting as you want the wrist movement restricted, I roll my wrist into a near horizontal position while baitcasting.

I'd go with the 8 or 9 weight Lamiglas XMG 50 blanks (remind me of Sage XPs) that Angler's Workshop have at an outstanding price right now, the more wind anticipated the heavier the blank. The TFO blanks at Mudhole are a good blank and a good value. Casted a nice, beautiful 8 wt rod a few years ago I really liked, turned out it was a Sevier Tiger Eye blank. There is a huge variety of great blanks

Like Ray said, the bones are smaller, but more plentiful in the Bahamas, that's why I thought the IST 993 would work so well, light fast tip to throw bait or whatever with nice backbone.

Jay, Would starting with a shape similar to the forward section of the Maniform fly grip be in the ballpark?

I'd drop one power rating tro the IP 963 on the popping blank, another I'd look at would be the Rainshadow IST993F steelhead blank. I always thought it would a dandy bonefish rod.

Val, First did you check for blank trueness before the build, your small deflection may actually be in the blank in which case you never get it out completely. I look down the blank, guides down, against a light/white wall and split the guides in half as I look at it. Also having the guides off a little won't effect performance in the slightest so don't get to upset about it.

I've been corrected, thanks Steve. I need some coffee I guess to wake up what left of the brain cells, the wife says I'm getting more AllTheTimers everyday. Just came back from my annual Alaska trip and I still remember that I can't stay there all summer so I guess it's not to bad yet.

The IP841 I built was also a fast tipped rod, a little lighter powered version of the Loomis P8400 or Shikari P7000 blanks.

Karry Batson's suggestion of the ISA 1087 is a good choice for an all around great rod.

Adrian, Not sure about the application, but I do know that shortening the rod will not make it more solid. Shortening the bottom will make the blank slower and have less power. Taking it off the top will slow the action and not change the power.
