Yes, I will have the 8- 8.5 footers and they do have some in a color that matches Billy's Crocks. The great thing about these rod covers is the WILL NOT hold in moisture so you can take them onthe water and store them without discoloring your guides or wraps due to moisture. I you fish from a kayal platform they are a must have. See you guys this weekend.

For several years now guys have been looking for the 4 oz cans to store their Permagloss. I'm pleased to say I will have a abundance of them along with some helpful instructions/ suggestions on setting them up. For those who are looking for protection for your finished rods I'll have the BEST rod protectors to date, they come in 3 sizes and quite a few colors.

thanks for all the info guys, the main reason I asked was a guy contacted me about building some rods on "orange blanks". Thanks again, Sammy

Yes, you will just have to pull the rod out a little farther on one side.

You should be able to get that size #30 at a better price. I think one is defintely better than the other and if you do many rod repairs you'll see whose you end up replacing the most. This should be one way of gaugeing quality not by adds and pictures alone.

Those guys have been pushing that stuff for years. Larry, congradulations! Wildlife in NC did a short article on the tournament last year but left me wishing they had did more. Do you have any pics you could post or email to us?

I agree with Tom $10 a foot and your standard amount for re-wrapping the guides. Think about it, after you are done with the exception of the grip and seat, the rod will look better than a factory rod. If they are serious it won't be a problem

Well it seems you certainly build a "few" rods a year. That's a lot of epoxy. If you are set on a air compressor go with one that has cast iron heads and DOES use oil. You can bank on anything from Lowes to Sears is going to give you a probelm and I consider them junk. I say that with experience of trying to get them fixed only to be told it costs less to get a new one. I found a Shulz

103. Re: guide help
It's a repair, I don't think the guy can cast in high winds anyway from the looks of the rod.

Who has the fuji gold frame fly guides with black inserts? I don't believe they are sic's because they are on a $40 Bass Pro rod I picked up for repair. BTW I need the #6's.

105. RodMaker CD's
I got all three CD's with volumes two thru four this weekend. They are great !! Instead of spending time running thru hard copies trying to find that certain article now I can hit a button and sit in my chair and breeze thru previous issues in no time. Another great tool in the arsenal.

106. set in graphite rod
Picked up a repair today and it had the worst "set" in the last 8" of the tip I've ever seen. Have any of you guys ever tried to straighten a "set" in a graphite rod?

107. Value
This a chance for the higher intelects to chime in. What is "value"? How do our customers relate to it? Is it something that you can go to "cheapo world" and get at a whim or is it something constructed of top of the line components ?

I hope I'm not speaking out of turn for Tom, but on several occasions I remember him saying that during counting they set out the "duplicate" tickets or registers. I'm sure he will give a better answer shortly.

I kind of agree with Ellis. I believe when you and I talked at one of the shows you acted like you didn't build many fly rods, that may be just the project to break things up. Of course you could cruise around to where the "serious" builders are and find out how to fry a turkey. If it really gets bad come down and we'll make our way to Texas and bug Andy for a while.

They have a good store and helpful sales associates but that figure is well above normal sales. Personally I would say they sell 3 to 9 a month, just my opinion.

Your products were outstanding, probably the most eye catching and appealing seats and handles I've seen.

Thanks, the attendees and other vendors made this an incredible show. I'm sure my good friends will find a way to remind me of this all year. It is fitting to have the responce we have had since the skeptics said it would never work. I'd like to thanks those behind the scene that helped in various ways at the Expo.

That's great. I can remember when your competitor said Rodmaker would not make it but in the end you're still here and they're long gone. The icing on the cake is that you have been able to put together the premier rodbuilding show on the planet and Rodmaker hasn't missed a beat.

115. Re: Mini Lathe
I own the Rikon and love it. For your money you can't go wrong with either. You might even want to consider Penn States line. I would have to agree with Mike on the tooling and chucks. When I was considering lathes it really didn't pop into to my mind what accessories you need just to turn, not to mention sharpening your tools.

116. Re: Supporting RBI
I haven't had the pleasure of meating Joe yet but it won't be long. There is no doubt it is a tough road to go down and I've heard that he has great talent and a sucessful background. I was just stating some things I'd like to see that I think would help a great many of us in the business aspect. Happy New Year, guys.

117. Re: RBI talk
Thanks guys. I do get Rodmaker and beleive it was a introductory article. I beleive our input can help show possible first steps to head in. As far as mistakes and oversights to be noted, I would simply say that some never put out a effort that could result in a mistake. I'm sure well get the chance to talk to Joe at the Expo but it helps to see how many people take this idea seriously. Happy

118. RBI talk
Seems like it is getting a fair amount of attention. Personally having a experience with another "group" and only receiving a peice of paper and no contact till dues came around I'm pretty skeptical.
Makeing the custom rod makers a force in the fishing industry would be great and if you provided it's "members" with information on marketing strategy and ways to improve sales s

119. Re: Show Event Post
I've had the opportunity to see some of the numbers from the last Show on where the attendees were from. It's quite impressive and I'm sure Tom could ellaborate if needed. I hope I'm not out of line but I believe the first people to reserve tickets was a couple from California. I've noticed over the past years that several guys have hooked up through the boards and came together to share expense
