set in graphite rod

Picked up a repair today and it had the worst "set" in the last 8" of the tip I've ever seen. Have any of you guys ever tried to straighten a "set" in a graphite rod? Re: set in graphite rod

Most likely it was like that the day it rolled out of the factory. Not a set, but just a crooked blank. Blanks are sometimes straightened at the factory, but this has to be done before the cure is fully complete.
You can't heat and soften graphite prepeg and then have it return to normal. Once you apply enough heat to it to soften it, it's history. ..................... Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
