The team I fish with on the Outer Banks of North Carolina won the annual surf fishing tourament last week in Nags Head.
There are 80 teams and this was the 57th event. We led every day and won by only seven points. Larry R. Tysinger Re: Nags Head Surf Fishing Tourament

No doubt that the victory was obtained in no small part by the use of your custom surf rods.

I'm guessing it was a striper contest? Any size? Re: Nags Head Surf Fishing Tourament

I was over there a couple months ago ,and what really got me was all the tackle shops along Rt.12 would have any where from 20 to 50 surf rod reel combos all setup ready to fish along the roadside for sale for less then what I spend just for the guides on one of my custom rods. I can't help but think the state of NC. is subsidising these guys to offer cheap tackle to coax tourists to plunk down an extra $10 for the salt water license.
Bob in Bridgeton, NJ. where saltwater fishing "so far" is license free... Re: Nags Head Surf Fishing Tourament

Those guys have been pushing that stuff for years. Larry, congradulations! Wildlife in NC did a short article on the tournament last year but left me wishing they had did more. Do you have any pics you could post or email to us? Re: Nags Head Surf Fishing Tourament
