So I started my 1st weave with the wonder weaver on a renzetti lathe and the way the thread carriage is behind the lathe - the thread lays under the blank and over the top. Ok, there are many GREAT rod building tools and gizmos but which one do YOU think you think you could not live without or would cry if it was taken away. Hands down, mine would be my Flex-Coat slip-clutch. Finish work would not be the same if I did not have one and every rod gets finish so every rod would be impacted. I just finished doing a very time consuming, 8 color weaveand it di not come out good in one area. The problem area was with a tall building and the length of the threads to make the height of the building. The lines were not very straight and did not fill the space enough. Any one have a pattern for doing a single color baseball weave that shows the seams of the ball coming down vertically on both sides. I tried putting an "O" on graph paper and planning in the seams to look like this ")" on the left and this"(" on the right but could not get it to work out right

I have never tried a fancy weave and I would like to make a rod for my parents for Christmas. I would like to do a weave of a traditional Navajo pattern. I bought a Wonder Weaver from Merrick and also ordered some Doc Ski patterns from them. They did not have many in stock so I took what I needed from what was there. Some of them must have been around for a while as they are hand written and carry Holland Thread numbers with no colors indicated next to them.
