125. 3,000+ Rod Blanks!
That's roughly the number of rod blanks that will be on hand for you to shake, handle, flex, etc., at the National Rod Builders Show in Charlotte. And most will be sold at special show prices. These will be comprised of fly, spinning, casting, surf, trolling, boat, steelhead, pack/travel, walleye and every other type blank you can think of. Just another show tidbit I thought I'd mention.

126. Rod Lathe
I'm going to purchase my first rod lathe this week. I was wondering if anyone has or used the Renzetti Rod Lathe? I would appreciate any comments.
The rods I intend to build are mainly fly rods in various weights and lengths. In addition, ultra lite spinning. The spinning rods would be 2oz or less. fitted for a reel 7ozs or less.
I am also looking at the Renzetti Wonder Weaver. Is this a

Am about to start to embellish a rod that is to have both a weave and a butt wrap at the handle end of rod . Hook keeper to go first- then weave and butt wrap next. My question is which should I start with. I weave with a Wonder Weaver so I am concerned that which ever one I start with I could damage the other. I need some input guys! Your help is appreciated!!! Thank you!

The seminars and rod building floor demos are pretty much set now. We may add two or three more seminars, depending on how we can arrange things. I'll know better by the end of this month, but the following list is pretty much set in stone now.
There are still a handful of manufacturers and dealers who have told me that they plan to attend and display but have not bought booth space yet. I w

I’ve made a few updates to the vendor and featured rod builder booth demonstrations and will continue to update as changes need to be made, but we're getting close to finalizing things. Things are firming up and the show brochures are being printed next week.
I expect the vendor list to grow as we move through the next few weeks, but for now here is a list of those who will have booth space a

I wanted to bring this back up top for the weekend. The show name has been changed and registered to better reflect the nature of the event and a couple more vendors have been added to the list below. I'll update again in a week or two as more confirm.

133. Weaving jig
Looking for a new good weaving jig. I bought the one from Mudhole, and the springs won't hold the thread and it tears the metallic thread. I am not quite good enough to use the Renzetti wonder weaver yet. I would like to find one in between these two. Can anyone help me with some suggestions.

The following is the most updated list I have with regard to programs and demos for The Rod Builders' Show. It's still subject to change slightly but will be cast in stone by October 10th.
Some of the seminars will take place opposite each other which can't be helped. There is just so much to cover and so much going on in a small time frame that it's unavoidable. There is a chance that some o

139. Charlotte Seminars
This is a partial listing of the demonstrations and seminars that will be on tap for the International Rod Builders' Show in Charlotte, NC on February 26 & 27, 2005.
I still have to iron out the details for the seminars to be presented on Sunday afternoon, but can tell you that they'll probably cover grip flocking, photo-etching, guide placement and a one or two other topics.

I was so happy when I finally received my new wonder weaver. I opened it up and I started to read the instructions, in bold writing is a warning using metallic thread may damage the thread supports in this tool. To say I was disappointed is an understatement as most of me weaving is in metallic thread. I did not see in any of the advertising that this tool was not suitable for using with metallic

141. When morons weave
Taking a break to stop yelling at myself.
Working on an ambitious weave. Combination multi-color/color change. 30 thd by about 70. I started with 12 colors. Jim U., you were right (as if there was a doubt). It's just too much. Even more so when you put the loom on backwards and fight with threads spiralling over each other. Worse, it took me half the pattern to realize it.

Can anyone point me to some resources I could consult to learn more about color-change weaving? I'm not new to rod-building at all. I've done numerous single-layer weaves in the past, and I see that there are looms available that help with manipulating the colors, but I still have some technical questions that I just can't find answers to on the web. Specifically, if you maintain multiple laye

G'day, I have pruchased a wonder weaver and was wondering if it came with instructions. I have been crafting weaves for years manually. I have not attempted a colour change weave. If the wonder weaver does not come with instructions, can any one give me some simple instructions and I will work out the rest.
Thanking you in advance.

146. Wonder Weaver
I'm new to weaving and I've just received a Wonder Weaver as a birthday present. As I've drooled over this tool for quite awhile , I'm anxious to get started. My initial thought was to add weaves to a butt wrap or a feather inlay. One of my questions is : the handle will be already installed and the weave will probably start 8-10 ins away from the handle. How do you install the weaver over the h

The new issue of RodMaker will be printing over the weekend. It will mail at the end of next week and most readers will receive it during the 2nd and 3rd week of August. The scheduled delivery date is August 28th, but many get it a tad earlier.
In addition to what I think are some particularly good topics this time out, there is a major surprise within the issue. Three people will be more than

I recently moved and am getting ready to set up my workshop. So over the weekend I ordered a Renzetti Rod Lathe and a Wonder Weaver. Kind of a Christmas in July.
I've read numerous times here where people didn't want to spend the money they cost. I quess they must have read the fine print, that in my haste to get what I've long wanted, missed. The true cost.
I didn't realize the total unt
