91. More on weaving
I saw my first multi-colored weave over 20 years ago and ever since then I wanted to learn how to do it. I could not grasp the concept of changing colors. The fellow whose work I saw said it was a trade segret and that is as far as I got on his helping me. Then I bought Doc Ski's video and man was I excited. I did several single color weaves using his method. I finally bought the Wonder Weav

92. Wonder Weaver
Just got done watching Doc's video on weaving. I want to do it! Is the Wonder Weaver the way to go for weaving rods? It looks like it is the real deal. Does anyone have some experience they can share as to weather it is worth it or not. Thanks Scott

93. Doc Ski !!
It appears Doc Ski has been showing more and more of his work recently on this board. I have seen a lot of his wraps on this web site, in person and his videos, and they are ALL superb. I find it great that he takes the time to comment on other peoples work as well. A compliment from Doc on your work has to be a testomonial to your hard work and talents. Thank you ALL for making this site great

I wasted several hours yesterday and today trying to find vellum graph paper to
make patterns with. No luck in local stationary stores and the Web. Graping programs on the Web don't make the graphs large enough to fit all the threads.
What are you guys using?

95. Weave Patterns
I just received a fantastic birthday gift from my wife. Who would have thought she would encourage me to build more rods. Anyway, I received a Wonder Weaver and am ready to try some color changing weaves for the first time. Can anyone recommend a good source for patterns? I would like to start out with a few trout patterns.
Thanks,
Marc

Where can I find a good weaving loom. I have only one small weave that was in the back of the Dale Clemens book, I did the marlin as my first weave just using double stick tape and counting the threads by hand over and over. It turned out fine after 3 hours but now i want to do cool, larger patterns from logos and such online. I need a weaving loom but they are almost impossible to find online. T

97. Weaving Loom
I just attempted my first "big" weave today. It came out so-so, but it was a big mess and I am not satisfied by the overall look. Anyone have any step-by-step instructions on how to build a loom of some sort to keep the threads separated and snug??? Any advice would help tremendously.......Thanks in advance!......................Andrew Mason

Can any one help me please?
I am having some teething problems with the wonder weaver, this mainly has two do with 2 issues. I believe I am following all the instructions properly.
Firstly, as I progress through the weave I am finding that the pattern is closing in on itself and I am not able to fit all the threads easily and they are getting bunched up. Ie the threads that are moved from

After watching my new Doc Ski rod building video last night, I've come to realize I'm building rods in the Dark Ages. I realize he's a lot more experienced than I. However, I think I'm ready for a power wrapper. Making the first wrap for the cushion for guides on a saltwater reel takes me foreeeeeeeeeever! I spent most of this morning looking on the internet and in catalogs for a wrapper. Now I'

102. weave loom
I have done a few weaves with the double stick tape method and although sucessful I would like to try a loom. From what I have seen they don't look like they would be that hard to make.I have given it some thought and looked at others on different sites.I think someone had a post about using some kind of foam for the thread holders.I have never seen the underside of one and am unsure how they fast

Hi All,
Can anybody tell me what are the best references (books, video's, magazines) available on rod weaving. And a follow-up question is what about weaving equipment, any suggestions?
Thanks,

104. Weaving loom options
I'm looking to buy a loom and would like some input from those of you with experience with them. I'm sure the Wonder Weaver would be the way to go but I'm curious as to whether the less expensive looms will work relatively well. Are there any other 360 looms available? How do the flat looms work in comparison? And which sponsors carry the looms other than the Wonder Weaver?
Thanks

105. Weave creation time
Just out of curiosity I am curious on how long it takes the normal person to create a fairly intricate weave pattern. I am almost finished fine tuning a weave that I have been working on for some time now. It is 73 threads wide and about 110 wraps long. In some of the wraps there are as many as 7 seperate thread transfers. This is the first major weave I have undertaken and I think I have abo

For all intents and purposes, the big show is now just about two weeks away. Things have fallen into place very well and in many instances have gone even better than we anticipated.
The show will have somewhat of an international flair with builders coming from Europe, the Pacific Rim, Australia, Mexico and Canada. The turn-out from the US is expected to be huge. In fact, if there is any

What is the best material to use when building your own weaving jigs? And where do you fine it?
Thanks to Mick, I've made a few jigs. I used "Fun Foam" from WalMart/Michaels, glued-up. Works pretty good but wondered it there was something better.
Thanks for any advise.

113. weaving
I'm new to rod building and have worked out the standard wraps and am now interested in weaving. I've been using the double sided tape method but it is a horrible pain to keep everything straight.
I know about the wonder weaver but that is quite out of budget. I also know about the loom at mudhole. Are there other options to consider?
Thanks in advance!

... Until the world's largest rod building event gets underway. There are a couple additions I need to make to the seminar list but I won't add those until next week after I've gotten things firmed up. A couple more vendors have signed on and a couple more are expected to get on board later this week. I'll update again around the first of next week.

Hi,
I thought I would give weaving a try. While I maybe opening a can of worms, what do you think to be the best equipment to aid in this process? I have a lot to learn about the process but I do know that tools make the job easier. Thanks for your time...Kevin
