Look for the lightest popping rod blank you can find. Some are rated down close to 1/8th ounce. Or, extend a regular light power freshwater spinning rod. That could be the ticket for what you want. to do ..................

More than likely, alcohol isn't going to remove the screen printed logo. It will take something much harsher, such as acetone or laquer thinner. The problem is, those may ruin the paint as well. As Bill suggested, try it on an area that will covered with the seat or grip prior to trying it on the logo. One other thing to consider - removal of the manufacturer's logo and related nomenclature ma

Often, guys who wish to get involved in surf fishing will ask around and try to find out what others are using with success. By virtue of their many 1-piece models, Lamiglas has always been popular and not just in the northeast - they have been a mainstay in Carolinas and Virginia for decades. Still are. Success tends to build more success. You also have to remember that up until the early 19

Cut-outs for fingers is often a mistake. I'd recommend reading the article - it is based on research done by leading bio-mechanics over the past 60 years. Of all the articles that have ever appeared in RodMaker, this is the most valuable of them all. ..................

Yes, depending on the media you use. Papillo, the brand suggested in the last article, is supposedly not suitable for use with archival inks which nearly any printer made in the last 4 or 5 years will utilize. But some are using them with good results. ..............

It’s a funny thing but due to the sheer size and large attendance of the Expo, you’ll find more former RodCrafter members here than ever attended any of the official RodCrafter seminars of the 1970’s, 80’s or 90’s. I’d guess between 250 to 300 former members of that organization are at the Expo each year. Maybe more. Dale has a standing invitation to attend - he’s only an hour an

The latest article in RodMaker on making your own decals, written by Bobby Feazel, unveiled a new medium that prints great and sticks to about anything. You're going about things the hard way. ...........

16342. Re: FR 906-4
Fast and stiff are not the same thing. Fast action describes how it flexes. If most of the initial flex is in the upper 1/3rd of its length, it's a fast action blank. The numbers would indicate a Fly Rod, 9' 6-weight in 4 pieces. The problem is, that's common nomenclature used by several companies. Are there any other identifying marks or inscriptions on it or the bag? .............

Yes, it will keep your regular nylon thread from turning transparent and staying closer to the color on the spool. There are really only about 3 different CPs out there, but they are sold by many companies under different packaging. Any o

We did an article on this recently and many manufacturers chimed in with what they recommend for their particular blanks. Most said, no, that it wasn't necessary. But some still recommended it. I'd go with what your particular blank maker advises. When in doubt, just wrap it and that way you don't have to worry about it. ...........
