I'm trying to wrap my mind around this and make sure I am remembering right...
Cut from butt - slows action, little to no change in power and lure rating Lengthen blank from butt - Speeds action, little to no change in power or lure rating Cut from tip - increases lure rating - slows or speeds up a blank - why am I thinking it speeds one up? (maybe crazy and overthinking) and what does it do to power rating? Obviously every blank is going to react different, but just trying to think through things in general terms. ----------------- AD Re: Cutting rods - impact

Cutting from either end creates a slower action.
Cutting from butt reduces power. Cutting from tip increases casting lure weight range. ................. Re: Cutting rods - impact

Alex,
The late Cliff Hall created a table with the effects of trimming a blank and I have it posted on my website "The Rod Builder's Library". You can download it for future referance.
