I have been making my own artwork using PowerPoint and Clip-art from my home computer. The first couple that I made, I used CP to adhere them to the blank. After they dried, I applied epoxy right over them and they looked pretty good. Recently, I had some problems with the colors bleeding into the natural white paper and ruined the last one I tried. I made some new artwork last week and I sprayed them with Krylon Clear. They look really nice but I can't get them to stick to the blank. Anybody got any suggestions?
Thank you, Steve Re: homemade artwork adhesion help please

What is the material you are working with? Is it a pressure sensitive label paper or are you using some type of adhesive to stick it to the blank. Re: homemade artwork adhesion help please

I am printing the artwork on regular multi-purpose computer paper, nothing special. I sprayed both sides of the new artwork with Krylon Clear, and it looks really good but my usual method of coating the label with CP will not keep the edges of it down.
Thanks, Steve Re: homemade artwork adhesion help please

The earlier articles in RodMaker on making your own decals specified how to get them to stick - 3M 777 spray adhesive.
The latest article in RodMaker on making your own decals, written by Bobby Feazel, unveiled a new medium that prints great and sticks to about anything. You're going about things the hard way. ........... Re: homemade artwork adhesion help please

Spray adhesive is too hard to work with. Go to the craft store and buy some Best-Test paper cement, and follow the directions. I never sprayed the backs of the stuff I did, just used 3 coats of Krylon 1311 matt finish over the artwork. Cement , then color preserver, then epoxy. Built a lot of rods that way, no fuss no muss.
Hope that helps. Good luck. Stan Re: homemade artwork adhesion help please

Thanks for the info. I have not received the latest copy of RodMaker yet. My subscription might have expired, I'll have to check. Do you get any kind of notification that your subscription is about to expire?

Yes, renewal notices are printed in the magazine, in every issue.
Bobby's article was in the Volume 12 #1 issue that was out back in February. ............ Re: homemade artwork adhesion help please

Please take the time to go to this link and read the News.
Details of use are in the Rodmaker noted above. After reading the news check out the other links on the site to the materials and samples of the work product that can be printed with an inkjet printer. [www.swamplandtackle.com] Edited 1 time(s). Paper is not very good material for rod labels as it will always look like a "paper label." . Better is to use a plastic material like vinyl. I have seen some even us the matte clear return address labels that are pre set up for use on a computer/printer. Re: homemade artwork adhesion help please

I tried the matte clear address labels last night and they printed out good. However, once I got them on the blank, the colors faded and I couldn't even see the silver that I used for the boys name. I will check out the February RodMaker and info from Mr. Stevens and try again. Thanks again for all the help and options.
