I just built my first rod last week and it came out realy well. All I did was order a rod kit from mud hole to start out with. I have been reading as much as I can and looking at alot of pictures to try to learn. The problem I'm having is on my weaves and wraps after I finished then off they came out realy dark. I'm using gudbrods nylon size A. I just found out about color protector and was woundering what's the best to use and will this solve my problem? Re: Newbie question

Sounds like you've been doing most of your reading from the internet. Any of the better rod building books or DVDs will explain the use of color preserver. Yes, it will keep your regular nylon thread from turning transparent and staying closer to the color on the spool.
There are really only about 3 different CPs out there, but they are sold by many companies under different packaging. Any of them will work well but you may wish to try a couple different products with some test wraps to see which you prefer. Small bottles of CP aren't expensive. ................
