Need opinions, do you feel its needed to wrap the ferrule on a two piece ultra lite rod? Ive heard so many folks say yes and so many say no its not needed. Would just like some opinions. I think its needed no matter what weight rod your talking about.
Thanks folks Vern Re: Ferrule Wraps

We did an article on this recently and many manufacturers chimed in with what they recommend for their particular blanks. Most said, no, that it wasn't necessary. But some still recommended it. I'd go with what your particular blank maker advises.
When in doubt, just wrap it and that way you don't have to worry about it. ........... Re: Ferrule Wraps

How long will it take to wrap them. Why not just to be on the safe side, just in case.

Vern,
Check with the manufacturer. It wouldn't hurt to wrap them, regardless, unless you are trying to build the absolute lightest rod possible. George Re: Ferrule Wraps

I feel that the ferrule wraps on a 4 piece rod I built for my son actually save the rod and kept it repairable after the rod was broken. It seems to me that the nature of the blank construction generally minimizes hoop strength and that a ferrule wrap is an insurance policy. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
