Hi Folks, I consulted with Tom and he suggested I post to see if I can find a the right person/people. The people associated with this forum, past and present have been very kind and helpful to me. Here's my story.... I contracted for some help with my ice rods builds last year. Unfortunately, I got mixed results and now have a bunch of rods with misaligned guides, etc. Rather than take

Roger, That's what he asked me for. I agree, I like a moderate for myself. I have an old 9 ft. St Croix and Fenwick that I enjoy fishing. I have an older Forecast 10 ft I've been meaning to build for myself too. Had that a long time now. If that's what he wants...

Hey all, I have a friend who's looking for a blank for flat lining for Walleye. His decripiton is, 12-14 ft, med light tip. Used to fish the shallows with a trolling motor. Using 10/4 Suffix braid and a Pfluger 30, set in a rod holder. A 2 pc blank is best. Happy to take suggestions on the guides, handle, etc if you've built one similar to this set up. I'd like to offer him a few ideas

The St. Croix blanks I was refering to are old stock Avids that I bought years ago. As far as I know, you can't find them anyplace. That's one of the reasons I had my own high end blanks made in bulk. I have more coming for fall, just in time for winter builds and anyone who wants some. Not that the sponsors on the left don't have good products and pricing. It's where I shop for eveything el

I've had a lot of requests for St, Croix, Thorne Bros. and something to match the old South Bend Fiberglass blanks. My favorite now is the one I've had manufactured for me. It's a solid graphite blank that I really love. Currently I have a light action and a medium action. I've built most of these for and with a spring bobber system and I've been able to detect and catch minnows so small it's

Hey all, I need a budget to mid priced, 6 - 7 foot, 3 or 4 piece, 4 wt fly rod blank for a customer that wants to gently lay down nymphs on ponds and streams. I haven't built a slow fly rod in ages, so I need some help with blank choices. He wants to keep the build to about $100-150. Thanks in advance. Mike, I've used Recoil guides on cold weather or ice rods since you can "flick" them with your finger and the ice pops off.

I've been going through the sponsor sites and have yet to find 1 distributor that has both Batson Mini/Micro s in #3 and their woven graphite handle. As this order will be rather small, just enough items for a couple rods, I'd like to place one order. Tiny orders split among shops can be a hassle to all parties involved. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance. Ray Mazza Midstream Rods

In my post last week, I said I'm making some casting bubble rods with graphite TN handles. Over the weekend I was flipping through my collection of RodMaker Magazines and re-read the Vibronic Rod article. Seems like a good idea for the bubble rods. The article didn't go into detail as to how the handle is attached to the blank on the spinning rod, or what material is used to cap the ends. I

I'm building a couple of rods to fish with the use of a casting bubble. A casting bubble is nothing more than a bobber that allows ballast to be added/removed. These rods are an experiment based on a book called "Fish Don't Think". In the book, fly rods are used with spinning reels ( 6lb test with a rod's length 4lb leader) on wide Western US waters, to cast flies a long distance.

IRS buddy says they aren't mailing many forms due to cut backs. Additionally, many IRS jobs regarding contacting people with forms or requests of information have been subcontracted and the service is very poor. Responsibility rests with tax collector (you). BTW, as a result of my asking many questions about this excise tax many years ago, this gentleman was trained as a specialist in this ta

Wanted to let you know that the Mohawk Valley Trout Unlimited Salmon Expo went very well. The ICRBE slide show drew plenty of attention and questions. Thanks again, Tom. TU gave me the booth next to the American Legion Post which was promting the Healing Waters Program. The New Hartford, NY Post will be starting a program. They asked me to speak to its members about adding rod building and r

I have seen the presentation and for those who haven't, it's beautiful!!! the design of the slide show, the beauty of the work displayed, the music and the seamless transition make it very enjoyable. One way you can make a "clean room" on the cheap, is by making your room with poly for the walls. If you do a search or check on some contractor suppy sites, you'll find a unit sold for drywall sanding that does just that. It consists of clear poly for the walls and expanding aluminum poles with no-mar surfaces that support the poly and attach it at the ceiling and floor. My 2 upst
