Ok folks, I have a request to build a 7' 6" Med Lt, Fast - Extra Fast for Walleye and River Steelhead in the UPI. It needs to be a budget build for a Grandson. Anyone have ideas they'd like to share? All ideas greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Ray,
Do you seriously want an extra fast blank for steel head fishing?

Most folks who fish steel head want a rod that is no faster than fast and many would rather have a moderate action blank.

Having said that, the Batson RX8 - XSW76ML is an outstanding blank.

Or a less expensive build would be an

MHX - sj9000 MHX.

Roger,
That's what he asked me for. I agree, I like a moderate for myself. I have an old 9 ft. St Croix and Fenwick that I enjoy fishing. I have an older Forecast 10 ft I've been meaning to build for myself too. Had that a long time now. If that's what he wants...

When I was fishing in the UP in the late 80's a lot of the spinner fisherman used 7 1/2 ft rods with faster actions, the G Loomis IMX HSR 9000 was extremely popular. For walleye I'd also want a faster rod than the normal steelhead blank.
