Websites Bandwidth

Those of us who have rod building websites need to completely understand our providers allowable bandwidth and storage allotments.

Many folks use a "FREE" website service for a short time then upgrade to a "premium" (payed) site. Just be sure you understand what your getting for your $$.

I surely didn't! My provider allows me (and others if I allow) to put up as many photo type files I wish without those files counting towards my file storage quota.
I thought, "how cool is that!" So, a BUNCH of photos went up and people really like that. Eventually though, I discovered that everytime one of those photos got
clicked on (viewed) it used bandwidth and once my allotment of bandwidth is reached either I have to "buy more" or risk the provider deactivating the site until
the next billing cycle starts and my quotas reset.

I might concider shopping around soon.

Just an FYI

Oh! I sure have a far better appreciation for the "Photo" section of THIS site. I can imagine what it costs to keep running! WOW

Eventually, all things merge, and a river runs through it..

Ray,
Check out the radio host Kim Komando at KimKomando.com. and do a search on the subject. She had a grat article with suggestions. I'll look in my files, I many have it saved. If I do, I will pass it on to you.

I resell hosting and manage several sites for other people. There are many low cost hosts out there with unlimited bandwidth.

Check out hostgator [www.hostgator.com] they have a few different plans and they have been very reliable and a good value. I have the NJ B.A.S.S Federation Nation site hosted with them it handles that very well.

I have found godaddy to be expensive, slow, and VERY difficult to get away from. They hold domain names hostage when you try to leave.
