Slow 4wt Fly blank needed

Hey all,
I need a budget to mid priced, 6 - 7 foot, 3 or 4 piece, 4 wt fly rod blank for a customer that wants to gently lay down nymphs on ponds and streams. I haven't built a slow fly rod in ages, so I need some help with blank choices. He wants to keep the build to about $100-150. Thanks in advance.

Maybe a Batson Forecast RX6, F764-4. Have built a bunch of these for brook trout streams and are fun to cast. It is 7'6" so not sure if your client minds the extra 6".

The RX6 really isn't a good choice if he is looking for a slow blank,

The Sevier Tiger Eye is a nice, slow rod. I really enjoy mine.

You won't have many options if you need a slow blank in a graphite model. There are some slow fiberglass blanks available; Lamiglas comes to mind. Take a look at the Pacific Bay Tradition and Rainforest II models. They have some moderate action blanks that are an excellent value. I built on a 7 Ft 4 WT (2 piece) that was my favorite for dry flies on small streams until I slammed it in the door of my truck. Most of the moderate action Pac Bay blanks are 2 piece but there a few 3 and 4 piece models that may suit your needs. A number of the forum's sponsors carry the Pacific Bay line.

Fiberglass or look into Anglers Workshop Chalkstream blanks if you need to stick with graphite.

The "4Wt" designation refers to the weight of the first 30' of fly line, not to the rod blank. A 4Wt line will make a medium-fast "3Wt rod" into a slow 3Wt rod, and a 5Wt line will do the same for a "4Wt rod." For short casts many anglers like to up line one or two line weights, which inevitably slows the action of the rod. I would make certain of exactly what the customer expects and wants - a slow action rod to cast a 4WT. line, or a "4Wt rod" to cast a line which gives the rod a slow action. These are not the same things.

I myself like a fast action rod I like the fast rhythm

It may be wise if you can get him to cast a couple of action rods to see what he may like
