1231. lightening rod repair
Morning Folks,
I have a Lightening rod that a friend of mine brought to me for repair. Do you happen to know what guides are on it. To me they look like BSHVG Pac Bay's. Just need some clarification before I order.
Thanks,
Tom

Jason,
I got the MHX 843 from Bob while I was at the show. This is a VERY nice blank for what you mention. I have fished it along side of my Loomis CB843 and to me the difference is negligable! You will truely enjoy this rod!

1237. north fork
Ok guys,
What is your take on the North Fork blanks? Do the appear to be similar to previous offerings by Loomis or are they the superior product that was first raved about? I am thinking about pulling the trigger for one but would like to hear some feedback from those who have built on them.
thanks,
Tom

1241. foam cores
Evening Gents and Ladies too,
Have a quick question for ya. I have been doing some carbon handles and pretty much winging it. Do any of you have a specific size that you make your cores prior to skinning? For instance how many cm or inches do you make the diameter to match to a 16 or 17 mm ecsm?
thanks,
Tom

1243. Re: MHX MB843 build
I also just built this same rod with 1 df 6 1 sf 5 1 sf 4 and 3's out to the tip. He is using 20 and 30 lb power pro. I took the client fishing earlier this week and I can tell you i was VERY impressed with the rod in every way. I had multiple St. Croix's, Batson's (RX7's) and even some of my old All Stars and I will tell you, the MHX spent the LEAST time on the deck. Yes they are all built in a

I am pretty sure that he has even resolved the staple issue as well. If you do a short search you will see this was discussed previously.

Mike,
I too have had great results with their metallic.. I tried a few guides last nite and it wasn't too bad but I think that I will just use the old silk that I have on hand.

Afternoon Gents and ladies too,
Have any of you ever tried Sulky "invisible" for wrapping guides? Sure looked small at the store. I did pick up a spool but would like to hear your opinions on it as well.
Thanks,
Tom

1249. Re: 5 1/2" trout rod ??
Bill,
I am not sure how light of an ultra light you are looking for but check out Rogue and also Lamiglass... If neither of those work, I have a ATC that I picked up at the show from FishSticks that fits the bill for exactly what you are looking for. I am sure that if you gave Scott a call he could find you a couple more...

1251. Re: Fuji BUNAG concept
Scott,
I was routinely having this exact problem when I first started to build.. Also had it with factory rods as well. I promptley threw out all of my bridge guides and have not had a problem since. I do still have a few rods out there that the customers wanted them and I did the locking wraps as the others have suggested and it has held so far. I just had too many frustrations to even bothe

Jim,
I am not sure about Fuji's but I think they may be available from a Japanese source. For Batson's give Scott at Fishsticks a shout. He may have something that you are looking for or could possibly get what you are after.

Mike,
John hit the solution square on the head. Start a few wraps then lay the end of the guide on top of those wraps. You will continue wrapping up the foot and after about 7-10 wraps, VERY CAREFULLY wiggle the guide back and forth and slide the guide off the starter wraps. I will say that if you are using Batson guides you should scuff the foot of the guide so the thread has something to hol

Thanks Steve!!
Hope you are feeling better and by the way they seminar on micro's was excellent regardless of the fact you were fighting the ick! Very professional and extremely informative.
I will shoot him an email tonight before I hit the rack. Was great talking with you at the show again this year. Hopefully Tom will be able to do it again next year!

1255. need micro's
Good evening gents.
I have been doing research for some micro guides. I am looking for silver framed with blue inserts in 3mm as well as black frame with blue insert 3mm. I would also like to try and find some 2.5 and 2.0mm regardless of color. If you guys could point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it.
thanks
Tom.

Steve,
I appreciate you getting in contact with Scott, for me. I would have posted sooner however the snow over here in VA kept me quite busy to say the least yesterday. I know that I will certainly be checking them out at the show for sure if Scott brings them.
