Fuji BUNAG concept

I recently had an old personal rod and a 1 year old customers rod have some problems with the BUNAG 6 concept guides pulling out. I did not do any type of locking wrap nor do I know if it is possible with this guide. I also noticed that the guide foot appears very small in comparison to other guides. Does anyone have any suggestions regarding this problem? It appears that my rod was stepped on of abused but it does not appear that way on my customers rod. He said that he heard a crackle during a hook set and after inspection he noticed that he could pull the last two guides out by hand.
Thanks, Scott Re: Fuji BUNAG concept

Just say no to bridge guides. I have never seen an application where a single foot fly guide wouldn’t work better. Re: Fuji BUNAG concept

I do not plan to use them any more but I was wondering why I had problems?? The 6 FLY does have a much longer foot and I can put a locking wrap on it. Re: Fuji BUNAG concept

Scott,
I was routinely having this exact problem when I first started to build.. Also had it with factory rods as well. I promptley threw out all of my bridge guides and have not had a problem since. I do still have a few rods out there that the customers wanted them and I did the locking wraps as the others have suggested and it has held so far. I just had too many frustrations to even bother using them any longer.. Bill is spot on with his suggestion to replace with a fly guide. Tom Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
