no worries Steve, I just may have to do the same as yourself and give it a go with each blank as these are rods that are not needed right away. I only have Back Bay with heavy grass but I may have to get them and take an "exploritory trip" up to the James, Chickahominy or even Potomic to give em a fair shake. if anyone else has any other suggestions, I would greatly appreciate those

1203. punch rod
Evening guys, I have been doing some searching for a blank for a punch rod but have not come up with too much. My guys are using 1.5 ounce tungsten and crashing the mats with a bunch of assorted plastics using 50-65lb power pro. i was thinking about the xp3 BB2 or the Batson ISWB904. I would like to keep it as light as I can what do you all think? Tom

If you are going to use it exclusively for braid you can most certainly downsize the guides even further.... MUCH FURTHER depending on the braid.

as I had mentioned to you in an earlier post you simply need to contact one of the Batson dealers and they should be able to order them. I have yet to see them advertised on any site. Tom

Wade, I have been using the Batson micro's 3.5,3.0 and now 2.5 and 2.0 for three seasons of perfect performance! Mine have been on Flippin sticks, pitching sticks, finess, topwater, shakey head, tube, spinnerbait, crankbait, skippin rods, worming rods and the list goes on and on. I have used Am Tak's, Fuji's and I have to say that I keep going back to the Batson's every time. Tom

Phil is right on track. Plan the rod for what you want it to do, so fisrt will be the technique that you are looking to perform, then you will select the blank that best suites that goal. You will then need to select your components that you would like to make up the rod and finally thread and or theme/scheme of the rod that you want to achive. Tom

in going with what Tom said, I am going to speculate that this is what Loomis is talking about in regards to replacing the GLX line. Tom

Here is another option. You could sleve over the thread with tubing and insert it into the rod that way via a bushing made out of an arbor. Tom Kaufmann

any of the vendors who carry Batson should be able to special order for you. I got mine from Scott at Fishsticks. I know that Karen at Bingham is a full dealer now and she should be able to take care of you as well. Tom

Bill, It would be hard for him to get the oil in the water in God's country where Josh is from... I grew up in that area. Congrats Josh and hope it fruitful and lifelong! Get the Mrs, into helping you with creating your custom sticks, becomes a family affair that all are proud of! Tom

Didier, I have followed Steve's advice VERY closely and don't think that you will be dissapointed. I have recently put in a special order for some 2mm and 2.5mm with the zirconium ring.. You will NOT be unhappy with them. I have only used 30lb power pro with these and have had no problems. I have however used 65 power pro exclusively on a pitching rod with the hard rings with NOT A SINGLE PROBLE

1228. 2.0 mm
I have a quick question for those of you have used the 2.0 and 2.5 mm guides. Have you been transitioning from a typical 6,5,4,3 then all 2.5's or 2.0's or do you simply prefer to go from the 4 straight to the 2's or 2.5's?? Thanks and hop that you guys who were able to make the event today had a great time. Wish that I could have been there. Tom '

it really is going to depend on the color of your blank. If you want the thread to stay as true as possible you may want to consider applying some color preserver. One other option that I have done with yellow's and oranges in the past is to carefully paint the blank white where you will be putting your wraps. Tom Kaufmann GySgt USMC
