Scott, I have some of the Shikari c563's left at the house if you are interested. I think that I paid 12.00 a piece for them. They are clean, straight and are not seconds. They are clearly marked on the butt in the normal fasion for Shikari, I would also look at the 3c56mf as they have removed some of the power from what they previously were. Tom

Scott, I have and use the following for spinnerbaits in that length range currently, 3c66mf have 2 in boat 3c56mf have 2 in boat 3c66mhm 5c60mf I have a couple of shikari 563's built as pistol grippers, as well as a rainforest II (use more as a buzzbait rod though) 783 and a All Star Spinnerbait special (not too special IMHO). Really depends on what you are going to do with them, cover,

Jason, my experience is not with the Toro but I do have the "S" and STX and love both of them... they are a touch finicky getting them set but they cast better than almost everthing else that I have... I've got some tuned up stuff they wont hang with but I will say that I am VERY impressed with them for a stock reel. I have had ZERO issues with any of the reels that I have and to be ho

Evening gents, I have recently come upon the need for a couple of new sticks. I will be throwing Poes 100's (heavy cedar bait) as well as the Strike King series 3,4, and 5 baits. I realized no one blank is going to accomplish this task and that is GREAT.... new rods are always welcome. I will be throwing them in heavy wood cover (very minimal vegetation to deal with) what do you all suggest? I re

I have one that I have split and done in yellow to match the skeet reese revo that is going on the rod...is SWEEEEET

Good evening gents.. I have a jet midi at the house and I am in need of a chuck for holding my mandrels.. what do you all recommend? I do have a Jacobs for the tailstock and have no plans for turning anything other than cork, eva or composite core sections... (don't even have much time to do this let alone anything else). Thanks and look forward to hearing what you have to say. I have looked at

After having the distinct pleasure of speaking with Steve on Sunday I came home and ripped off most of my 6's and have replaced them with3's. I 've had to add an extra on a few rods but it was WELL worth it and the rods cast better and are MUCH lighter to the feel.... Steve has shared lesson with me that I will carry throughout my days (not just rodbuilding) and I am VERY grateful for him openin

I just needed to pass on to all of you the fantastic service that I recieved from Karen at Bingham. I had ordered some blanks and didn't give her my new address so they were shipped to the wrong place. After MUCH trouble of trying to locate the items, I summised that they must have been stolen from the place of delivery and reordered through Karen at a deal she certainly did not need to pass alon

ok first off let me preclude this by saying I have been at work now for 12 hours and thankfully only have a couple left. you could do the ole mechanic trick use a long shaft of some sort (i.e. screwdriver) place on each guide and flex it. You will pick up the noise. would at least allow you to isolate where it is coming from... what if you were to take out the rod and give it a short bit of use

Billy, did you re-use the same set when you put them back on? it is a shame there is not some way to measure harmonics of the guide. Tom

Thomas Kaufmann
Billy, if you feel that it is the guides, what do you think about removing a single guide at a time and fully flexing after the removal of each guide?? If you still have noise you know you need to keep removing. You might be able to easily isolate the guide in this manner or you could just strip off the guides chuck em all in the ditch and put on a new set??? Tom

Does anyone plan on bringing any carbon fibre with them to the show to sell? I have looked at the vendors and did not see Sollar. I was hoping to be able to pick up some more while I was there. Tom

I will normally use either the buttons from the uniform (cover or also know as a hat in the civilian world) and very typically use a tie tack which can easily be put into the handle of the smallest of ultra lights. You will find that the cuff links work well although are pretty pricey. If you are looking for something Marine Corps specific shoot me an email and I will take care of ya. Tom

I agree with Andrew, I have the 3c66mhm that I use for spinnerbaits (although I have a couple popping blanks in the work for comparison). I typically use a 3c66mf when in heavier milfoil (minnetonka) I do find if I miss a fish with this that i can pick up the 3c66mhm and I will no longer miss any more fish. I also have a CTS that I got from Andy Dear that is by far my FAVORITE for 3/8 baits. It i

Scott, spinning or casting?? I am guessing that your customer is using a casting rod. I have built up a spinning rod out of a 3c56mf for this exact purpose LOVE IT!!!!! Got the recommendation from Bob at Custom. It is sweet for this and has PLENTY of power for everything that I have hooked up with (only a 5.7 so far) is rated at 10-17 lb and 1/4-3/4, it is a pre ipc model.. I've not used the cur

try the 27x method that Tom has recently introduced. I like it better than his previous version based on the upsweep of the reel.

NOPE, the only reason that I have seen is for flippin rods and that will depend on how your angler is going to hold the rod.

I typically do most of mine in Navy with no cp for the stealth look. I have however trimmed them with 2 wraps of silver, copper or even gold for the navy rods that I have done. You may even want to to try cobalt blue non cp with purple and silver accents... I did one on an old im10x alstar blank that I built for a buzzbait rod... LOOKS SWEET!
