I ordered some Fishhawk Orange and love the color. But like most light colors I am concerned with how it will look with epoxy on it. So if you have used this color without painting the blank, how well did it hold its original color versus turning translucent and losing the 'pop' in the original color? I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve." — [Ian Holm (Bilbo Baggins)] Re: fishhawk orange

it really is going to depend on the color of your blank. If you want the thread to stay as true as possible you may want to consider applying some color preserver. One other option that I have done with yellow's and oranges in the past is to carefully paint the blank white where you will be putting your wraps.

If you don't have the handle on try a test wrap if you do have it on do one wrap - but - I would suggest at least two wet coats of CP. Let dry overnight. Bill - willierods.com Re: fishhawk orange

Unless it's NCP, you'll have to pack it tightly and use CP if you want it to retain its on-the-spool color. Otherwise it's going to turn somewhat transparent.
Even with NCP, you may wish to use CP. Without it, the thread won't turn transparent but will lose just a little brightness. Just a little. ................. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
