Richard, Thank you for that info. I remember the offer of joining that club but, never heard of those results. Yes, sometimes a good thing could be too good to be true.
Thank you

Alex, Bob, And Mark, Thank you for your additional remarks but I have to apologize for letting this thread go out in left field. I guess I used the wrong analogy to explore the mindset of the rodbuilding community. My origanal post was top heavy in reguards to buying compoents in an unethical way.I cant blame you for your "call to arms" on that one.
With my second post I tried to redi

Oh, so a co-op has already been tested.I hope this did'nt happen at the time Clemens and Midland Tackle decided to close thier doors. I used to go to Midland tackle up until He retired. On one of my last visits to the shop it was almost all cleaned out compared to the weekend before. When I asked where all his stock went, He said someone from down South bought it all except for the old fiberglass b

Thank you all who read and responded to my question. It was not intended to provoke harsh feelings or to cause a stir. Before I posted that question, I read some posts having to do with Kistler, Skeet reese, GLOOMIS not selling anymore blanks and some of the replys sounded negative or sour that a larger business was having thier way. The only reason I used the term co-op was because I remember h

785. One simple question
Here ye, Here ye, Attention one and all. I have one simple question! In reguards to a post (Rumor-Part 2)I have read with great concern of how hard it is to compete with the big guys who are now using your developments in rodbuilding to attract new customers.
How can they sell rods for those prices after rewraping all those guides? How! They buy thier compoents in large quanites. They get deep d

12 guides on Reese's rod must give him confidence. Having that in competitive fishing is a big plus. I'll put as many guides as a guy wants on a rod.But once you start pumping out a line of rods with 12 guides on them , thier not custom built. Your in production.Eventually the crow will perch on the scarecrow.Unless the blank your using warrents 12 guides.

I'm not sad about this. You'll still be abel to buy GLOOMIS blanks, just have to get use to the NFC logo. I just wish PENN and LEW'S did the same thing. What ever happend to SKYLINE Graphite rods that were so popular in the early 70's. Who made them, who took them over, who bought thier equiepment?

A 9ft ,one piece blank designed for bunkerspoons that will fit a Steaurt Tuff-Butt (like the AMETK ESW761H), and E-glass blanks in white. You got em in pink , why not white!

Danny ,Cut the fore grip off the front of the reel seat, heat the reel seat with whatever will do the job, when the reelseat is hot enough to move, with a twisting motion, pull it off the front of the rod butt, or check your e-mail.

Clyde, Call AMTEK (American Tackle) direct. They may be able to steer you to someone who has some old stock on hand.
P.S. While your there, ask about the ESW761H ,a great bunkerspoon blank they discontinued a few years back. Well suited for Raritan Bay,NJ stripers.
Lets Go NJ Rodbuilders!, ask AMTEK to bring that blank back into production along with the T6120-B-B . I have a detailed profile

The only time I throw a brush away is when and if I drop it on the floor.
I have all sizes of brushes that I use for the size and amount of epoxy I'm going to use. My brushes are so old I could list them as dependents.
My methed for cleaning brushes is as follows: Whipe out brush with a rag before you put it in the cleaning fluid so as not to fill bottom of jar with gobs of old epoxy. Swish , w

Aaron, Write down all the things you screw up while rodbuilding for the next 20 years and you'll have the prefix to your very own "A Lifetime or Rodbuilding" then for the rest of your life you can work on gathering the content. EVERYONE MAKES MISTAKES!!!
Rodbuilding is the longest apprenticeship , right up there with Art and Music. You'll never stop learning so, just take it on the chi

Gary , Put togeather a flier that you can hand out on the spur of the moment, like at a gas station, bait shop, launch ramp, any where you may meet someone that are going/comming from the lake ,stream, or bay.
In that flier list all that can possibly be done to repair or improve thier rod or to custom fit a rod to thier specifications. Also list your experience in the amount of time you have assco

Jan, Four bucks for a 4oz. spool is worth wipping up a batch of Clorox and water, painting the dirty area with the mix and a stiff brush and let dry. You want white sox, use Clorox!

Craig, Wrap a rubber band around the blank or butt. Even a Renzetti chuck slips when it is used with a butt that has a gymbal or a hard butt cap. The rubber band acts as a cushin, allowing you to put pressure against the surface of the blank without crushing the walls.
You can also make arbors out of champane corks. Drill out the cork to fit your blank so that it fits snug, and then you can tigh

Chris, The reason I asked what blank you chose was, back in 2000 I began building bunkerspoon rods using AMTEK model #ESW761H which is a 71/2' E-Glass blank that is now out of production and , for the price ,cant find a replacement. I've been using Seeker surf blanks cut down to 9' and they work great but the price is a killer.
Guides I use are Pac - Bay BBSG's ,(thier a heavy framed Sic ringed

Tom, Thats good news, thinking about a edition of repair and rebuilds of old rods. I have a great interest in rodbuilding history and always looking to seceure any printed material of yesteryears manufactures product line. I have some NOS items that would bewilder you just by thier size alone.Guides big enough to pass clothes line and roller tops that swivel and would fit on a cue stick. I guess

Tom, It was'nt a serious reply on my part but,if I was going to give the last ten people gauges I would just rubberband ten gauges to ten CD's and put them in a box aside from the other 240 CD's and they would be the last to be sold. If you requested $29.95 and a tip-top guage for the CD, at the end of the run you'd have 250 tip-top gauges in that box where the CD's were. And I'd be the first to

Kinh, Using Rod Bond and drywall tape, I would sleeve 18" of the butt with an alumnum tube of a lesser dia. that will fit the gymbol, slick butt , and reel seat when assembled.Let rod bond dry for 24 hrs. under sleeve. Then again using Rod Bond and drywall tape, fit the gymbol, slick butt, and reelseat onto the tube making sure the reelseat and gymbol are aligned. If you were using Stewart T
