Chuck, Go to a industrial supply house and ask for: 3M SAFETY-WALK #310. Been using this product for a few years now, it's the same as what your looking for. I like it. It has a textured surface, not like sandpaper. A nice alternative to cork tape. You'll have to buy a full roll. I get mine from FASTENAL CO. No special account needed, open to the general public.

Joe, The name of the shop was Midland Tackle on old Rt.17. It was about the size of a boxcar and Woody,s right thier catalog was printed on newsprint stock. It was a great little shop and was a sad day when it closed. It was quite a trip up there from where I live but, always enjoyed the drive. I still have some of the old catalogs and post cards they sent when they were closing. Now, where did yo

Tom, I'm a life member of B.A.S.S. and I still have early issues dating back to NOV/DEC 1975. Unfortunately I just gave all of my past issues (except for my first eight issues) to one of the shopkeepers.Thats how I got into rodbuilding in the first place. After reading an article about how the pros use a slew of rods for different baits and presentations of them, I decided the only sure way to ge

Buzz, I have a Renzetti, 12' bed, 4 uprights,1/10 hp, and I also opted for the HD turning motor plus all the turning guides and supports. The reason I went for the turning motor was because I smoked up a motor doing grips on an old Rod Smith I had from the 80's. I wanted to upgrade my unit but did'nt want to chance burning up another motor. It runs at a constant 1500 rpm's unless you adjust the b

Stan, I've had it checked and dated about three years ago by a guy that deals in antique fly rods. Basically he said the same thing as Tom,(1890 - 1905). He had about four on display in pristene condition and was only asking about $190.Mine has no markings or builders info on it and I have not seen another rod like it so I dont know its true value. I can post pictures if it would help.

Hey Yash, If your hand reaming ,your gonna have to start small and step it up in about 3 or 4 sizes. It sounds like that stuff is really brittle or your too agresive. Three sizes of reamers cant do it all! If you have a lathe with a tool stock holder , get youself a set of boreing bits. Mark the depth and you should be able to knock it out in one pass. I you have neather, tr

No heat or chemicals. Use a utility knife blade held verticly to the blank surface and start scraping from butt to tip. Dont ever hold the blade as if you were going to slice into the blank. Try a scrap piece first to get the hang of it. You have to learn how much pressure it takes to get the finish off. Sometimes all you have to do is draw the blade across the surface and it will shread or flak
