I am working on a project, I am building a spinning reel support to throw 2-3 oz weights by sling shot and guide the fishing line on the line of the drive. It works well but the reel comes loose of the home made mounts.
What I am looking for is an aluminum reel seat from a rod that is broken or damaged. I know that accidents happen and people would throw parts away instead of fixing, and removing the glued reel seat from the rod is a pain the .....So, if you have one of those and don't want to fix it, and want to donate it, I will take it and pay for the shipping. Thank you. Please keep the internet green! Recycle electrons. Re: Looking for someone to donate a scrapped reel seat.

The cost for somebody to mail one to you is going to be as much as a cheap seat anyway. Go down to your local sporting goods store and ask them if they have any junk or returned rods they are going to trash. Some times they will give you some broken ones and you can salvage a seat from one of those. Re: Looking for someone to donate a scrapped reel seat.

I have checked with Cabella, Bass Pro Shop, Big 5 and Sportsman Auth. No luck so far. If they get a broken rod, they ship it back for store credit. Please keep the internet green! Recycle electrons. Re: Looking for someone to donate a scrapped reel seat.

Danny ,Cut the fore grip off the front of the reel seat, heat the reel seat with whatever will do the job, when the reelseat is hot enough to move, with a twisting motion, pull it off the front of the rod butt, or check your e-mail. Re: Looking for someone to donate a scrapped reel seat.

Danny,
Go down to good will or salvation army and pick up an old rod for 50 cents and use that. Take care Roger p.s. My neighbor was throwing out a bunch of rods, so I picked them up for rod repair - for use of the tubular sections. I used my chop saw and chopped off all of the grips, and reel seats and threw them away. If you had posted about an hour earlier, I could have recovered the handles from the garbage before the trash man picked up the garbage this morning.
