Cleaning thread

I got some 4 oz spools of Holland thread off that other unmentionable site and one was white "D" and it looks as if it had sat out and got kinda dusty/dirty on the top layer of thread on the spool so any ideas as to possibly cleaning it?

It's not bad but does need cleaned before I can use it, for 4 bucks I couldn't pass it up.

If it is only the top couple of layers.....toss them and use the balance, why take a chance?

Phil the trouble is it's the top of the spool so it affects all the layers, it isn't real dirty and I may go and visit the local dry cleaners and see if the fluids they use might do the job.

Jan, Four bucks for a 4oz. spool is worth wipping up a batch of Clorox and water, painting the dirty area with the mix and a stiff brush and let dry. You want white sox, use Clorox!
