I am replacing a guide on a friends rod and am having trouble matching the thread color. Its a magenta and dull gold wrap. I have bought several reds and golds and havent found the match. Does anyone recognize these colors? They might be old pac bay colors but the rod builder went out of business so I can't ask him.
Thanks [www.rodbuilding.org] [www.rodbuilding.org] Re: Thread color help

MAybe Fuschia mettalic. Not sure if Gudebrod makes that color, but I know I have a Rice mettalic which is almost identical.
If you're doing your freind a favor, just get it close enough and tell him it's not that big of a deal if it's not a perfect match, lol. Re: Thread color help

I think that if you will do a test wrap of Gudbroad Scarlet thread, and their Gold thread, and then run a couple of coats of Flex-Coat CP, you will have your colors.
I think that you said this was an older rod, and you have to think back. Many years ago, we were limited to thread that was made without CP, and was basicly made by Gudbroad, and some rod builders continued to do "what they knew" well beyond this period. I have never wraped a rod with Gudbrod NCP thread, so I don't know what this thread looks like under epoxy. I can tell you that this this thread is either NCP thread, or is coated with CP.
