Kinh, Using Rod Bond and drywall tape, I would sleeve 18" of the butt with an alumnum tube of a lesser dia. that will fit the gymbol, slick butt , and reel seat when assembled.Let rod bond dry for 24 hrs. under sleeve. Then again using Rod Bond and drywall tape, fit the gymbol, slick butt, and reelseat onto the tube making sure the reelseat and gymbol are aligned. If you were using Stewart TUFF-BUTT you can skip the sleeving of the butt because they are one-piece units, you only have to slide the Tuff Butt up to the reel seat and attach the gymbol(making sure you use Rod Bond for both of these applications of corse)
The reason for the tubing is flex between sections if you dont use it. I assume this rod will be used for trolling in a rod holder which will have constant stress while the boat is moving.
You eather buy a bent butt or NO you cant bend them yourself, not while trolling anyway.LOL

You can shim the butt to the rod blank several ways. Drywall tape and epoxy is one way. American Tackle actually offers an EVA grip you mount to the blank, which then fits the butt perfectly. That's a very quick way to go about it.
