Regarding the above flipping/pitching rod design issues with micro's....
1. If you use the “simple wrap†spiral setup you will have problems.
2. If you use all the same size guides, then stay with a conventional wrap or you can have a problem with the line sticking.
3. If you use Micro tips on a spiral wrap (regardless of the brand) you will have a problem.
Is there more explanation

95. Re: Belt Sanders
I used a dremel for the longest time but ,after reading what someone (mighta been Tom, I dont recall) on this site does, I now simply run the guide foot along the fine side of a file about 5 to 6 times. I think they come out just fine, and no overheating concern.

I like to run a piece of thread thru the crook to remove the epoxy bridge, as I was told at one time that it could crack or separate from the blank when initially flexed causing cracking sounds during initial use, and possibly open a path for possible moisture intrusion. Not sure if that really happens or not, but it seemed to be possible, was an easy enough procedure to prevent, and I liked it c

If its the same jig I think you are talking about, a dime fits pretty well in the recess. Then just poke the nail your using thru the center hole to push the dime up along with the ring. Hope this helps

I think it might be the Louisiana water. I just spent a week in Disney, Florida; and as it turns out, about 1/2 the state of Lousiana was there trying to avoid the influx of out of towners visiting the state for mardi-gras. I must say these are very wonderful people, and many are just as crazy as Bill Stevens sounds. Disney will never be the same, and neither will I. Fantastic people to party wit

105. Re: Carrot Sticks
Thanks Steve, you opinion is highly valued. I'm not really taken to their marketing, but do seem to recall some discussion on this board regarding the exciting potential with this technology..not that this is it, yet, but maybe 5 years down the line...who knows. I've had a chance to try out a lot of different blanks, but not this one yet, and I dont like to rule anything out...hence why I asked.

Why is the CTS blank better. ....actually, I guess I'm really more curious to know why the Carrot stick is not?

An article titled "There's nothing like learning to build your own rod" appears in the "New Hampshire Union Leader", page A11, dated Friday, Jan 4, 2008. There wasnt a lot of meat in it, but heck maybe it got someone to think about trying it. Anyway, I know how some of you like to hear about these types of articles.

I dont think I've ever seen a Bill Dance show where he's had guests. Roland Martin has guests on his shows sometimes - anyone here an equipment expert on the rocket fisherman?

For $875 it looks like you can get the complete Renzetti setup . I have a much older model and cant imagine anything better. There's a RM article for mounting a dryer motor to it. This with an extra belt and a check attached to the 'accessory attachment' end of the small turning motor, and you have yourself a dual dryer setup as well.

I'll have to try that. I guessed, probably incorrectly, that the foam arbor might 'slip' on the mandrel and that trying to tighten it in place with the copper sleeve and nut would just dig into the arbor and not hold it well enough. Thats why I was putting it in afterwards instead. But I'll give it a try. I didnt think it was heat, but I'll try even slower speeds and/or air as you suggest - that

For those who are using flexcoat arbors in their wood grips to lighten the load, like this , is there a process/standard that works best for you? For example, I've been boring out my wood blank to my largest mandrel size and turning on that. Then ream/sand out the bore a bit more removing as much as I dare (I've made the walls too thin in some cases, and cracked them), and then sand down a foam a

These guys used to have them. They also used to have glass bottles, and metal caps that hold up better than the plastic caps that come on the PG bottles.

I'd rather see a 'rod builders roast' held at the RM gathering. There's tons of stuff posted right here that could be used to roast quite a few people very, very well I should think.

119. Re: super chuck
The one on the cover looks just like the one i have, right down to the chuck and headstock. ...'cept I have since added a few more bed rails, rod supports, from renzetti, and a large motor, and a dryer motor mounted to the headstock frame. Since I inherited it many moons ago, I didnt know what it was but was told it was either an old renzetti or clemens lathe. Anyway, I have the PSI CMG3C, CUG
