The 3 or 4 power rating for Jigs & worms for GUSA are 603, 604, 663, 664, 703, 704 blanks.
The Lite jigs/worms 1 or 2 power are GUSA 601, 602, 661, 662, 701, 702 blanks. Re: Power

Those are relative power ratings stemming from the old Fenwick system. Many other companies adopted it over time, although not necessarily the exact power amounts. Still, a 3 power is more powerful than a 2 power, and a 3 power is less powerful than a 4 power.

Hopefully the power numbers will be consistant across a particular product line. The numbers are subjective to the system of the manufacturer. All the print about the CCS System is related to finding a way so that the power numbers from manufacturer to manufacturer would be somewhat consistant. What is really bad is when the power numbers are not consistant when a manufacturer produces more than one quality of blank lines and there is no correlation from one to another. A three in one line of blanks may be more powerful than a four in another.

Bill, with the GUSA's DHX blanks that is not the case. Re: Power

Doesn't work across the board even within a particular manufacturer's line. For examply, a Loomis 4 power surf blank is much more powerful than a Loomis 4 power bass spinning blank.
Now with the CCS, a ERN power of 4 is just that, no matter what. ................... Re: Power

Cabelas sells a surf rod called the "Predator" that is a European stick, originally meant for pike fishing over there (a whole differnt game than what you might think). It's rated as a "2-1/4 lb curve". It's a long action, 2pc 11' and so far we've figured out that it'll handle 2oz-4oz on 8-17lb line and will cast nice and far, and has the power to land some really large fish in the surf. Very nice, especially for the price (I won't say anything about Cabelas' shipping costs, and please don't ask - I had a nice holiday and don't want to mess it up just now)
But trying to match it with a specific stick from any of the manufacturers has resulted hours of searching with no results. The variability in this rating system almost reminds me of the variability of the rod specs from virtually all the manufacturers. Hence the Common Cents System and other attempts to get comparative data across the various sticks available. Uncle Russ Calico Creek Rods Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
