I recall seeing a photo when I 1st started of a thread holder for a rod lathe that held a LOT of spools, maybe 30 or so. It was circular like a ferris wheel and custom made, but I cant find the photo. If you know the photo, could you send or post the link to me? Thanks.

I've used tru-oil on cork as well and like it somewhat... but only apply it AFTER the rod is built and AFTER the thread finish is completely dry. I dunno, something about the word "oil" freaks me out so I worry about what it'll do if it gets on a surface that I've yet to apply thread finish on.

Ok, I just found the permagloss discussion/photo's. Somehow I missed it when it was going on. Exactly the info I was looking for. Thanks.

I was wondering that myself, and was thinking about trying the end caps used in bicycle, or maybe even motorcycle, handlebars. Havent done it yet, just a thought.

I get the sense from what I've read here that most builders use permagloss to finish or refinish blanks, but not as a thread finish and was wondering why....too thin?

Maybe a bunch of rod makers get together and buy a server, and bring it to Charlotte and visit the RM booth and put it down for a minute ....and just happen to forget to take it with them when they leave.
