Try putting this request on the buy/sell/trade page so it will hang around in front of people a bit longer. A couple of people have told me that they weren't able to put things up on the buy/sell page recently, although this is most likely only a problem with older browsers of a certain type. Give it a try and see if it'll go up for you. .................

You can reseat them with epoxy. For replacement ferrules, you're going to have to hunt them down. Many of the sponsors to the left carry older style ferrules but it may be hard to find an exact match. You will have to buy the pair, male and female, together. ..............

I heard you the first time. Dale Clemens was involved in the rod building craft from a business/profit perspective. I am not. I stated at the outset of publishing RodMaker that I would never compete with the rod building component supply dealers by offering or selling rod building products of any kind. I've remained true to that promise and don't plan to change anything. The book I wrote wa

Unlike wood glues, epoxy assemblies don't require clamp pressure for strength - you just want the gap closed for appearance purposes. I think the rod itself, when straight, will apply enough pressure to do that. If not, then a cork clamp could be used. I don't think I'd use water on anything there. ...............

You can taper them nicely with a flat file. Remember, most files cut in one direction only. So don't saw back and forth - take long smooth strokes across the end of the foot until you have almost a knife edge. Then use crocus or find emery paper to smooth the edge and bottom. In past issues of RodMaker we've compared the various methods for shaping guide feet. One of the easiest is to use a be

No, finish does not hide imperfections - it magnifies them. That hump will also cause premature checking/cracking at the edge of the guide foot. Remove it and prepare it to a shallow taper. A year from now, you'll be glad you did. Don't worry about what you sent in the "kit." You'll do better with your own testing and set up. Sounds like you're already on that track now. Any g

I'd go with something such as Herb suggests. You should be able to slip a card or thin spatula into the opening and get some epoxy in there. Or, put some in a syringe and inject it into that opening. It won't take much. Allow the blank to unflex and the cork will close on itself - that's all the clamping pressure you need. Wipe the outside of the cork with some alcohol and watch it for any

The finish is treated to the same type trip regardless of what type of dryer you employ. Most companies that need maximum drying capacity per the space and "pieces" use drum type units. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Not from me, no. I have made it possible for others to license (at no charge) the use of the symbol by means of signing a simple copyright agreement that states they agree not to alter the symbol nor use it in any way that would detract from its intrinsic value to the craft. No one has signed the statement thus far, so there is no legal sale of clothing with the symbol on it at this time. I s

Something else you can do to "reverse engineer" your guide spacing using the Story Pole. Take any rod that you've fine tuned the guide placement on and with which you're very pleased. Flex it to the point mentioned in the article. Slide the Story Pole along it and mark the location of each guide on the pole. Now, on any blank of the same length, you'll have spacing you know to work

Terry, Do you take the magazine? If so, your question and all related information will be found within. Bobby has come up with some great media for decal use, but there are some do's and don'ts involved and you have to follow the instructions to the letter if you want to get good results. It's a great technique but one of those things where there is 1 right way to do it and 100 wrong ways to

Right. As mentioned, you can divide by as many (guides) as you want. Since one of the marks is the tiptop, you may wish to use more when you have a longer span than normal. Jim's 6' rod has a butt guide placed a little closer to the butt than most 6 footers. What Bill uses works great on rods with more conventionally spaced butt guides. In Jim's case, better spacing can be achieved by the use of

Jim, Good to hear it. You seem to have it well in hand. You can always adjust the number of guides up, or down, to affect how closely the guides will be placed together. With this method, I sometimes find that the butt and subsequent guide are located very far apart if the blank has a fairly fast action. So I may end up using 1 more guide and trying it again. Just don't be afraid to play

Requests for free decals come in every day. There has not been a single day since the introduction of the symbol that I haven't gotten requests in each morning's mail. It has slowed a bit lately, however. This morning there were only 3 requests in the Post Office Box. Earlier, I've had as many as 90 come in on a single day. The guys who distribute them in Europe and Australia say they've gon

Once the wax is dry and buffed, there is nothing there than can transfer to your hands or the wraps. I've kept my Renzetti lathe beds waxed, yearly, for over 20 years now. I have yet to have the first fish eye. Use a regular paste wax - Johnson's is what I've always used. ..............
