I am not the brightest thing on the block and when I received the link from my designer I thought I would just let everyone else see it. Well here is the new link [www.roddancer.com] Just copy and paste to your browser. Sorry for the confusion and size. Scott Parsons Re: Sorry About the RODDANCER problem

Maybe Tom you could make and offer newer age DVD tapes like what Dale had way back when? Many people myself included would pay money to have your own productions of rod building topics on DVD. for Tom

I heard you the first time.
Dale Clemens was involved in the rod building craft from a business/profit perspective. I am not. I stated at the outset of publishing RodMaker that I would never compete with the rod building component supply dealers by offering or selling rod building products of any kind. I've remained true to that promise and don't plan to change anything. The book I wrote was done for another publisher. I neither own it nor sell it. Many dealers out there do sell it, of course, so it's a profit maker for them, not me. That was the idea behind it - to provide a newer book with the basics that would hopefully get more people involved in making custom rods. If the opportunity to help someone produce such a DVD came along, I might consider it if time allowed. But it's not something I would ever produce and sell on my own. I'm just not interested in that aspect of the business. I do need to break even on the things I do, of course, in order to keep these various endeavors going. But any profit is turned back over the builders in the form of things like the RodMaker Reception at the Expo, the seminar presenters as compensation for their valuable presentations, or things like those 40,000 free decals I've mailed out to any and all who asked this past year. This is the main difference between what Dale did and what I do, but both have their place in the overall scheme of things. Lest anyone misunderstand my comments about Dale, I would add that I'm not saying that there was anything wrong with him making a profit from custom rod building - everybody here goes to work and expects to be paid for their endeavors. Dale was no different and he can be commended for doing well in the business of custom rod building - an enterprise where few ever really make any money. It's a tough, tough business, particularly from the standpoint of component supply dealers. Dale was a good businessman and ultimately was able to sell his component business and Rodcrafter Association and retire at a relatively young age (remember, even the "Learn by Sharing" theme carried a $12, and later $20, price tag.) I think some have started to carry the idea of "free information" a bit far in that no one is ever owed free information. Information, such as that on Dale's VHS tapes, cost money to prepare and produce and those who provide it deserve to make a profit for their efforts. I hope Scott will bring the tapes back in DVD form. We plan to play the original tapes on the large screen TVs at the Expo this year. .................
