124. Re: Weaving Question
Mark ....... don't apologise for a question ....... everybody has to start and everyone is here to help everyone ............ that's the way it should be.
Now to your question. When you weave you usually anchor your weaving threads on the right (away from the foregrip on the rod) and you move the threads you want exposed i your design for that specific wrap of the base thread to the left whil

Last night I opened a bottle ob Bolla Valpolicella and noticed that the cork was a very high quality cork and I wondered if I could find a source for sheets of this quality at reasonable prices ........ so this well timed thread naturally raised my curiosity ........... according to several sources ........ there was very high production (record) in 2006 and 2007 and Portugal has a reforestation

If you want a cheap rod go to Walmart ...........
Do you really want someone who will cheat the government and maybe you displaying your workmanship?
Is that the kind of clientele you really want?
In my humble opinion, rod making should be considered a crafted art where the clients treasure your work and others envy their treasure .........
Not someone that wants to sneek it t

Bill ..... Thanks for sharing this. I too grew up with the tales from Joe Brooks and I took my son to a couple of the Brotherhood of the Junglecock fishing weekends to learn about flyfishing. It's truly a great organizatiion for kids fishing. Joe Brooks was a God in the pioneer sport fishing days and is not well known today ............ Thanks for sharing

I have a ton of airbrushes. All I can say is be careful of the paint you use. Ingredients for airbrush paint are ground much finer than other paints and must pass through smaller openings without clogging. I would contact places that specialize in airbushes and supplies and ask them. Places like Dixieart, Dickblick etc. Autobody shops usually use larger airsprayers so I'm not sure it's exac

I haven't started a rod business but I have had other small home based businesses. In Maryland as a Sole Proprietor, all you need is a business license (usually a peddlers lic) which is less than $50/year and an EIN #( tax number) which is usually your Social Security #. You can do the accounting yourself or use Quickbooks if you want. I found it was quicker and easier without quick books beca

As far as I know everything is hooked up correctly. It's hooked up the way it came. The 3 position toggle switch will turn on each motor 1 at a time and the foot pedal works on the wrapper and the rheostat knob works controling the wrapper speed. Both motors are mounted to the rail and the dryer turns the chuck fine ..... I think it is a standard Pac Bay power wrapper looks like an older RW 3L

I just bought an old Pac Bay power rod wrapper off of @#$%&. It's old and well used but everything seems to work and I really like it. The dryer motor and pulley turn the chuck just fine and the wrapper motor pulley spins fine but it isn't getting the traction necessary to turn the chuck. It has a very thin band that runs through both pulleys and the big chuck pulley. It seems that the dryer p

I took some old blanks a little smaller than the blanks that I was building and bought some medium grit. I cut the old blank into 2 ft sections and thickly coated the blank within 6 inches of the end in 2 ton Devcon then took some grit in my hand and slowly poured it on the epoxied areas making sure it had a thick coating of grit. After it was all coated I gentle pushed the grit further into th
